One of the only girls names me and dh agree on begins with a B.
Our surname begins with S.
I can't have a little girl with the initials BS can I?

Worse is that the middle name we have agreed on would begin with J.
BJS would definitely be out wouldn't it? Sad

Sorry to seem naive, but what is BS supposed to stand for?

My youngest son is a MLF - one letter off something really rude! Grin

BS = bullshit. But people actually say, for example, "That's total BS" in American TV shows Grin

I don't get why things are this are such a problem. They just really aren't. It's hardly something embarrassing. I don't even think BJS is bad. Wouldn't put me off.

Didn't even get what the initials stood for. I really don't think it will matter and I think it's overthinking things. There are very few times you only write a person's initials anyway.

Doesn't seem to have bothered Bruce Springsteen either.

I think people worry too much about this sort of thing. By all means avoid initials that spell out a word like PIG, TIT, WEE etc, but you can take it too far. I was at school with two girls who had the initials VD which at the time was the abbreviation for venereal disease (now called STD). Nobody thought much of it, althought personally I would have avoided putting big stick-on initials on all my stuff, as one of them did. Grin
