First of all, I'm completely "out" on here, so really haven't got an issue with posting my kid's names.

Everyone I know seems to have a beautifully romantic story about the naming of their DC- they saw a rock and just knew that was the name of their baby, the place they were conceived, they were named after someone in the family, etc.

I've loved the name Korbyn since I was 17, and saw a movie called Teen Agent- the cheeky little shit hero in the movie was Michael Corbyn.

And Karyn is named after Whoopi Goldberg (real name) as she was my hero growing up.

I'd love to hear others' inspirations!

Edelweiss is an awesome middle name, I only wish I'd thought of it!

Both of my children are named after much loved members of my family (I always knew I wanted a James and a Jennifer) with slightly more unusual middle names chosen from their dads' sides.

My son's first name was a name I'd always liked and was considered both Welsh and Irish (which I have both in my family).

Our son has two middle names, the first is after my husband as its tradition in his family for the first son to take the fathers name. The second was a traditional family name from my side of the family where the first son would be given the same middle name

DS's name was one we just stumbled across in the baby name book. We had 3 names we liked- it was the front runner, but we wanted to check it suited him before committing. It really does! His middle name is DH's first name.

Hahaha so very nearly did my boy have the name of an actual Guernsey rock!

We just registered our 10 day old this morning. He is named after a couple of fairly low-key land/sea marks that are of great significance to his dad and me's first few months together. We actually said at the time " and our first son will be X and our daughter Y". And he was literally nearly a rock!

First names- heritage related
Middle names- family names

Ds is named after my favourite Beatles song and Bob Dylan.

Dc2 is on the way and the names we've picked this time are just names we like. No special meaning behind them.

DS has an obscure Irish name that came to me as I was throwing up (morning sickness, hah!) on my way home from work in the dark. Some very nice Pakistani medical students used to get so concerned about me hanging onto the wall across from their house and heaving that they used to bring me out a chair and a glass of water.

I only recognise you from the PLL thread. Grin

Samuel is after my dad whose nickname was Sam (his actual first name was David). We considered Davis for him too. His middle name is after Jim Morrison.

Frederick was just a name we liked, and his middle name is after Robert Plant.

Emilia was my mum's choice of name. My name was going to be Amelia if she had her way, so we chose to go with it (but with the Emilia spelling) for DD1. Her middle name is after a character in a Hunter S. Thompson novel.

Lily Rose was going to be named Sawyer, but most people had strong adverse reactions to it, so we went with something that's the total opposite. We also considered Lillian. Her middle name is Maybellene after the Chuck Berry song (apt because she was born less than 2 months before he passed away).

At the age of 11 I went on a school camping trip to a village called Llanrhidian in Gower. It means 'St. Rhidian's Church' but absolutely nothing is known about this old saint or why the place was named after him. Rhidian/Rhydian is not a wildly unusual name in South Wales and I remember tucking it away and thinking 'I might use that one day'. When I found out I was pregnant, I gleefully produced a huge list of names, and DH, who's a university lecturer and teaches 200-odd students every year, vetoed them all because of previous associations with rude/thick/smelly students. 'Rhidian' was the only name he'd never encountered before and didn't veto!

A character in a (bad) film and a car 😂😂😂

Makes it sound much worse than it is! It's actually a lovely name that fits perfectly with his surname.

Good job we didn't have PLL when my two were being cooked- one of them would have been Spencer A! 😂
