I love it. Father in law thinks it sounds frumpy. Who's right?

I'm with your FIL. It's frumpy.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/04/2017 21:46

I love it.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 27/04/2017 21:48

Very pretty.

weasle · 27/04/2017 21:49

Lovely name!

MissHavisham1984 · 27/04/2017 21:53

My dd is Meredith. After she was born, some years ago, it was considered unusual but I still love her name and so does she. It's never been shortened and has used it as a second name for her ds.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2017 21:55

I agree with your FIL too, I find it old fashioned & frumpy.

But I really wouldn't discuss names with anyone other than your partner, or you'll end up having lots of these discussions!

Maggie2828 · 27/04/2017 22:12

Hurrah! Lots of good vibes then Smile

I like it! But it's my surname!

GreatFuckability · 28/04/2017 00:14

i really like it, but there will be a generation who see it as a boys/surname pronounced Muh-RED-ith. which is the origin of it. but despite knowing that, i think tis lovely!

Hiphopopotamus · 28/04/2017 00:22

Shhh - it's my favourite girls name and will be the name of my first girl! As I'm not planning to have a child for two years, I'm terrified of the name becoming a top ten name by the time I get there. Keep it under wraps people! Grin

Jooni · 28/04/2017 05:45

Love the full name and Merry

OliviaStabler · 28/04/2017 05:47

I love it.

Rockaby · 28/04/2017 07:02

Love it!

Like nn Merry or Red too.

BasicBetty · 28/04/2017 10:48

Not keen, sorry!

FluffyBathTowel · 29/04/2017 13:30

I love it. Would have seriously considered using it for DD but a family member already has a DD with this name.

BagelDog · 29/04/2017 13:35

Love it. Tops my girls list. Strong and sassy but still feminine, not frilly, love the shortenings. Only downside the the association with the drip in Grey's anatomy who would need to rapidly find her big girl pants to survive in real medicine...!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 29/04/2017 17:01

I have a Meredith so obviously love it. She's Edie for short.

AntigoneJones · 29/04/2017 17:02

I like it but only if it is stressed on the second syllable, not the first.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/04/2017 13:26

Love it

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 30/04/2017 15:05

I like it!! (But, Idk, is it for a boy or a girl? I think I once read a book with a male character named Meredith, which is probably why I'm unsure, sorry...)

But I really like it for a girl :)

Name12345 · 01/05/2017 21:39

I think it's really pretty but I couldn't have it for two reasons:

  1. A woman I work with (called Meredith) said she was once as a moody twenty something nicknamed megadeath by a really annoying group of lads and it stuck, so that's now what I nn merediths as subconsciously.

  2. reminds me of Meredith Kurcher and makes me really sad.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 01/05/2017 21:43

Love it, but I have a Meredith (Merry as nn) and am a bit biased! But loads of people have said how much they like her name IRL, so I'm happy with it. I get the odd person asking if I'm a Grey's Anatomy fan. I think the Meredith Kercher link will gradually fade in people's memories.

CreamCheez · 01/05/2017 21:45

Name, I thought of Meredith Kercher too. But, it might be the same with any name... Like Madeleine, as well.

Ohyesiam · 01/05/2017 21:57

Meredith is lovely, full of life and vibrant, not at all frumpy. And merry as a shortening is a bonus.

villainousbroodmare · 01/05/2017 22:05

Lovely.
