Looking at girls names. Really struggling. Boys names seem to be much easier than girls. Opinions and ideas welcome :)

I think it sounds beautiful Smile

cingolimama · 28/04/2017 09:33

Hate it. Sorry.

Phoebe is a particularly horrible name.

RuskBaby · 28/04/2017 09:45

Love it!

Mrsknackered · 28/04/2017 09:47

I really dislike it. I do like Hebe though.

StarOnTheTree · 28/04/2017 09:57

I have a Phoebe. She's nearly an adult now and I've only ever met 3 others. There has never been another Phoebe in any of her classes or activities. I love the name and I've not regretted it for a second.

It's definitely a marmite name though, people generally love it or hate it in equal measures.

WowserBowser · 28/04/2017 09:59

I like it

Rainbowqueeen · 28/04/2017 10:00

Love it!

SuperBeagle · 28/04/2017 10:12

I like it, but don't like the inevitable "Feebs".

But then, the only Phoebe I know of is the one from Friends, and I liked her. Smile

MissisBee · 28/04/2017 10:17

I love it. Sadly, DH doesn't and it doesn't really go with our surname either so it's off our list. Don't like Hebe though - reminds me of heebie jeebies

BasicBetty · 28/04/2017 10:47

Yes, I do. It's lovely. Not overused and a really pretty name

FreckledLeopard · 28/04/2017 11:03

I have a Phoebe - she's now 16. She's been the only Phoebe in nursery and school - we don't know any others, but I do think the name is becoming increasingly popular now and is possibly top 20?

Obviously I love the name but can make the following comments on it:

  • NO-ONE ever spells it correctly. Over the years we've had Pheobe, Phobie, Furby, Feebee, Feeby, Pheebie....the list is endless!
  • Lots of people assume I'm a massive fan of 'Friends'. I did not name my daughter after a slightly flaky TV character!
StarsAndStripes18 · 28/04/2017 11:16

I like it.. it's pretty but yet not a 'weak' name. My friend's wee girl is called Phoebe and there are only two others in our school so not too many about (where we live anyway)!
The three are all quite strong characters.

My only thing is that I can never remember how to spell it, no matter how hard I try Blush
I always have to check if I'm writing a birthday card, etc... but that's my problem!

It doesn't remind me of 'Friends' but it does remind me of 'The Thundermans'. Phoebe is a lovely, strong superhero girl on it!

Disclaimer! My DSs love the 'The Thundermans' and I only watch and enjoy it too see it because they watch it BlushGrin

It's a great name. I have one and she is the sweetest loveliest quirkiest funny mad kid you could imagine (others say this, it's not just me!) and she fits her name so well.

To me a Phoebe is quite feminine, twinkly, sweet natured but also a bit crazy and left field.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 28/04/2017 22:40

I love it. It's on my list for dc2.

youarenotkiddingme · 28/04/2017 22:45

Love it.

Phoebe Rose would be my name of choice.

Clawdy · 28/04/2017 23:55

She 's the lovely little sister in Catcher In The Rye. DS always said he would love the name for a daughter, as it's his favourite book. He only had sons, though! If he'd had a girl, I was going to search for a copy of "Phoebe and the Hotwater Bottles"! Very hard to find, now.

StarOnTheTree · 29/04/2017 18:16

We've got that book Claudy Grin

greeeen · 29/04/2017 19:03

I like it and also Hebe.
