Did you stick to your names?

Did you all stick to the names you had planned on calling your children, either pre birth or pre kids?

I was always adamant if I had a child he would be James/Jacob/Joseph.

I hated any modern/biblical names.

Ended up between Moses/Grayson/Ezra.

Did your name decisions surprise you?

No, they didn't surpise me.

But some of the names I really wanted to use just don't work in the UK...

James, Joseph and Jacob are biblical, though, so how can you have hated biblical names?

lizzieoak · 22/04/2017 14:49

But Jacob & Joseph are biblical names?!?

I stuck to my names bar a wee bit of waffling over one of ds' middle names. Exh wanted a certain name so we went w that but I still miss the middle name I wanted for her.

True. But maybe they were (are) so commonly used that the OP doesn't associate them with the bible?

Yes stuck to both names and still really love them. Had 2 sons but also still love the name I'd have chosen for a girl too.

As Feedtheshark said, I never really associated them as biblical names, more the classic ones.

Biblical meaning Moses, Elijah, Levi, Noah, Ezra, Eli etc. More Hebrew. I felt before having kids they were a bit too uncommon but upon having my son I grew to love them.

More popular names James, Joseph, Jacob, Thomas, Benjamin, Daniel, Max etc. are very run of the mill and Traditional, I didn't actively associate them with the Bible (whilst I'm aware most/all feature so).
