Regretted an unusual name?

Reading comments on other name threads, a theme seems to be people saying they loved 'insert unusual name here' but stayed safe and picked a more conforming/normal name. Wishing they had been braver to pick those wilder names they loved- but has anyone gone the other way- picked the unusual name and regretted it??

Persephone and Lysander should also call their children Jack and Sophie.

Although I want Persephone to settle down and have her 2.4 children with Dwayne-Patrikk.

PP who say the question should be addressed to those who have an unusual name are right. You don't know when your children are babies what type of personality they will have. I don't have an "out-there" name, but I was the only one with that name in either my primary or secondary school. I was very shy and hated it. I would much rather have been Claire, Amy or Laura. I think surname is also important. If you have a shy child with an unusual first name and surname they may not like the attention that comes with that.

I deliberately chose more popular names for my DC. So far, neither of them has had another one in their class at school and they are always pleased when they meet others with the same name.

I've just heard another super name by pm! I think I've posted too long and seen too many daft names, as we all have. But it reminds me that is possible to pick a genuinely rare and unusual name, which is also not silly and likely to cause problems.

Anyone else curious as to what all these unusual names are? Anyone willing to share?

As an aside, I love Lysander

I've name-changed to go public. DD is called Tamaris, partly after a family friend and partly after this trail-blazing artist: historienerrant.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/boccaccios-women-artists/

Hello to anyone who knows me in real life!

Shemozzle · 23/04/2017 17:28

Yes and no. All 3 have unusual names to some extent. Number 1 was one of only 15 with that name that year when born, number 2 was the only one with her name that year and most years and number 3 more popular but still well outside the top 200. I love 2 and 3's name but number 1 I really regret. It just sounds chavvy to me now and it's not as unusual as it was, sounds very American wannabe. I suppose it was choosing a modern name I regret though, not that it was unusual.

I've name changed too!!
My daughters called Krissy
There were 3 born the same year as her, and only 6 in the last 10 years

She likes it as its unusual but not crazy, although everyone spells it chrissy or chrissie which annoys her, and she can't get a door plaque with her name on it!
