Hey everyone
I am full term this week and me and hubby are really struggling with names :-(
Our favourite is Preston but as our surname is Stevens we really don't think it rings very well. Preston Stevens - Too many 'N's'?
We both agree on Jake - Jake Stevens
I would love Spencer Stevens but he's not having any of it
What do you think on the above and anyone got any ideas for something along the same sort of lines?
Thanks!!

Sorry I don't like any surname as a first name. I don't like Jake either.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2017 13:29

I really don't like Preston and I agree with you that it doesn't really flow well with your surname.

What are you unhappy about with Jake?

Loyly · 19/04/2017 13:29

Jake Stevens is good.

SleepFreeZone · 19/04/2017 13:29

Don't mind Jake, Preston doesn't work.

SoupDragon · 19/04/2017 13:30

Jacob sounds very similar and can be shortened to Jake

user1483530184 · 19/04/2017 13:34

Not unhappy with Jake and its definitely the only forerunner - but we haven't fell in love with it like we did our daughters name which has disappointed me
i could name 5 girls quite happily but the boy has stumped us!!
Have a friend with a Jacob.....

You have 6 weeks after the birth, see what suits him.
I think Spencer is seen more as a girl's name? Like in Pretty Little Liars.
I don't think Preston quite works either.
Congrats

purplecoathanger · 19/04/2017 13:36

I prefer Jonah to Jacob.

lisara79 · 19/04/2017 13:43

Jake is lovely... either just as it is or Jacob with Jake for short.

booellesmum · 19/04/2017 13:44

I like Jake.
Also like Jonah as suggested, Noah, Caleb,
Isaac, Finn, Alex.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 19/04/2017 13:47

I'd wait until he comes along, you might just find THE name once he's here. I didn't have a definite name for my DD until she was here, just a small list. I'm glad I waited as I picked the only one that actually suited her

MissTakesOurMaid · 19/04/2017 13:50

Jake is lovely! Agree Preston is a mouthful.

Elijah
Jacob
Jasper
Nathaniel (shortened to Nate or Nathan?)
Matthew/Matt?
Nicolas - Nick/Nico?

flibberdy · 19/04/2017 13:56

Ooh as PP said Jasper or maybe Casper. They work really well with Stevens.
Congrats!

user1483530184 · 19/04/2017 13:57

Our daughter was going to be Jasper if she was a boy actually! But for some reason weve gone off it for this one.....
I do like Caspar but like so many other people it is a ghost for me

Jake is my favourite of your options. How about:

Chester
Zeke
Luke
Dexter
Lincoln
Archer
Elliot
Aaron
Blake
Fraser

Thatextrainch · 19/04/2017 15:09

I think you have better taste with Spencer.

Milton
Rafferty
Fletcher
Cole

Rockaby · 19/04/2017 15:27

Spencer Stevens is nice.

I don't like Jake and really don't like Preston, as it will always be the name of a place to me.

Jacob is nice. I'd go with that and just explain to your friend if you need to. There are a lot of little Jacobs around, so it is not surprising you know one. It doesn't mean you can't use the name Smile.
