I like both, with Libby for short.

For some reason I really can't picture Elizabeth/Elisabeth on a young girl despite it being so popular and really dislike it. I do like the nn Beth and Libby though.

For reasons you've stated above- that you don't want her to be one of several in a class, and that you dislike the nickname Liz, I would go with Liberty.

Elisabeth

JRoo · 20/04/2017 19:25

Elisabeth for sure

Elisabeth is a classic. IMO Liberty is awful - sorry!

I like both Elisabeth and Liberty.
Elisabeth is timeless.

For the nick name Libby, I prefer Liberty.

MrsMeeseeks · 21/04/2017 11:33

Liberty reminds me of sanitary towels. Not sure why.

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose · 21/04/2017 11:37

I think Liberty is gorgeous, Elisabeth is all right but a bit boring

Kazzawazza69 · 21/04/2017 12:17

I really dislike Elizabeth but Elisabeth is better - I think because it looks slightly 'softer'. Liberty is lovely x

QuestionableMouse · 21/04/2017 12:21

Can you picture yourself standing on the playground or beach shouting liberty? People would either think your lost your dog or gone mad.

GirlcalledJames · 21/04/2017 12:21

fwiw Elisabeth is the German version and is pronounced differently.
Nice and classic and for this reason I prefer to Liberty.
Or Elspeth if you're stuck on the 's'.
Or why not just name her Libby?

Xmasbaby11 · 21/04/2017 12:25

I like Liberty. Really strong name. Don't like Libby.

I wouldn't choose Elisabeth as a. It'll often be misspelt and b. You don't like the abbreviations Liz etc.
