We already have an Alexandra, won't be finding out the gender. Like quite classic but not overly popular.Current list of likes:

Girls:
Georgina ( nn Georgie)
Harriet
Margot
Hermione
Martha ( least fave)

boys:
Henry ( family name but put off slightly by popularity)
Miles (milo)
Marcus (least fave)
Lucien
Louie (spelt this way dislike Lewis)
Rory

Names we've discounted:
Edward ( don't like Ed, eddy etc)
Helena ( like but put off by multiple ways to pronounce)

Any other suggestions?

Love Georgina and Margot. Prefer the shortenings George or Gigi though.
I like Miles as just Miles and Louie spelt Louis (I don't think many will pronounce it Lewis)

Agustarella · 01/08/2017 23:39

I like Lucien (not sure how it would be pronounced in English) and Marcus.

I have a Helena, accented on the first syllable (as in Helena Bonham Carter) and people very rarely pronounce it the east European way with the accent on the second syllable. Once or twice in preschool she was confused with an Eleanor, but that's about it. I don't think her name has caused any more confusion than other popular names with different pronunciations or variations. You have a nice names list, I don't think you can go too far wrong with any of those!

Thanks everyone, so after those girls suggestions and falling in love with the name Hermione and getting dh to agree it was an option it appears we are having a boy after all. So I think it is down to Miles/Myles (which?!) and Henry, possibly also Marcus, although still weeks to confuse ourselves and add to the list of possibilities Grin

I think Myles works better as a name, otherwise it looks a bit 'measurementy' imo.

early30smum · 29/08/2017 18:33

Congratulations on having a boy. I much prefer Henry to Miles/Myles and Alexandra and Henry are lovely together. However I saw you were thinking of using Milo as NN for Miles- I think it's enough of a name in its own right to use as a full name? So if you'd use just Milo, I'd say that, if not then I prefer Henry.

Sophronia · 29/08/2017 19:20

Miles is great. I prefer this spelling.

Sheitgeist · 30/08/2017 17:58

Love Louis for a boy (pronounced correctly, i.e.Looee) Louie is a bit of an abomination.

Also Georgie. I have an Alexandra and a Georgie!

4 weeks to due date and still can't decide. Finished work so obviously back scanning names boards/sites Grin still like miles but gone off milo and dh thinks he'll use milo a lot, which is putting me off a bit. Other possibilities now, subject to dh veto, are:
Frederick (Freddy/Fred) although surname is f so dh doesn't like f names but I'm keeping it in there.
Marcus
Dominic
Tristan

I like Miles, but not Milo. Prefer that spelling.
Nicholas
Gabriel
Jonathan

Navegante · 18/12/2017 10:27

I like Dominic. I'm not keen on Frederick. Archie, Richard, Thomas

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 18/12/2017 10:44

Louis, spelled this way, or Miles.

CaptainChristmas · 18/12/2017 10:47

I like all three (Dominic, Tristan and Marcus). I like Frederick too.

My favourite of those is probably Tristan.

lottieandmia22 · 18/12/2017 10:48

I would choose Harriet and Miles from that list. I know a Hattie which I think is a sweet abbreviation.

wapphighwood · 16/01/2018 12:45

Well our little man arrived on Sunday, we thought we were set on Miles but now he is here we are finding it strange calling him that. We trailed Frederick yesterday but dh doesn't like the inevitable Fred, trialing Henry today but I think this is middle name only.....off to start afresh in name boards while the baby naps on my chest
