Please help us decide between Sophia and Georgia. Sophia is beautiful but is it too popular? What do you think of Georgia? We know a Georgia, but not that well. Does that matter? All thoughts/opinions welcome! We're really stuck!

I love both your names- DSD1 is one of them, and the other was on our shortlist for DD2, so I am biased though Grin
Sophia can be shortened easily by peers- "Soph", which might irritate you in the future, whereas Georgia is harder to naturally shorten.
Sophia is a little more popular at the moment I think (we know a teen, and 2x 6yr olds), but only know teenager Georgia's; although I think it's making a comeback.
Good luck with choosing Smile

mayaknew · 08/04/2017 22:56

Like both but prefer Georgia it's far less common 😊

Muddlingalongalone · 08/04/2017 22:56

I love Georgia. Sadly ExH vetoed it because it was his cousin's name (who I met twice in over 10 years!)
Dd2 is a Sophie & if I'd realised quite how popular it was locally I would have used Louisa instead but it's a lovely name & even I shorten it to Soph despite never shortening Dd1's name

daisydalrymple · 08/04/2017 23:01

They're both beautiful [helpful] Grin how about Georgia Sophia? That way you get to use them both, and the popularity of Sophia won't be as much of an issue as a MN? Sofia is my dd's middle name (spelt that way as her first name is Welsh so the spelling looks better with her first name). I think Sophia is one of the most beautiful girls names ever.

MelinaMercury · 08/04/2017 23:05

I like both.

Weirdly, there are more Georgia's in my area than Sophia's.

Sophronia · 08/04/2017 23:43

Sophia is nice. I'm not keen on Georgia but I do like Georgina.

SuperBeagle · 08/04/2017 23:49

I love both of them.

I'd choose Georgia though, as it's less popular and less likely to date.

HearTheThunderRoar · 08/04/2017 23:54

I like Georgia more as it's less common now, however there are so many Georgias amongst my DD's peers (she's nearly 18), there were four in her school year alone out of 80 girls as it was quite a popular name 20-15 years ago.

Queensparkles · 09/04/2017 00:33

Both are nice names but I prefer Georgia as it's a lot less common

Yika · 09/04/2017 08:58

I love Georgia. Can be anything really - classy, tomboyish, cute - would suit any girl.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 09/04/2017 09:07

Sophia.

Redpramlady · 09/04/2017 10:57

Georgia is fab and on my list
They are both lovely but I think Georgia is pretty, feminine yet strong

Sofiatheworst · 09/04/2017 11:33

Georgia definitely!

harderandharder2breathe · 09/04/2017 17:58

I know an adult Georgia, 2 teenage Georgias and a 9 year old Georgia. All of whom are lovely.

I think it's a really nice name.

Friolero · 09/04/2017 17:59

I much prefer Sophia

SuperSix77 · 09/04/2017 18:25

Both pretty names. And similar in style. I prefer Georgia though.

ChippieFishieHorshie · 09/04/2017 18:31

I love Georgina (sorry, not helpful)
Georgia and Sophia are both really nice. But Sophia is very popular.
Which is why I slightly prefer Georgia.

Montsti · 09/04/2017 18:43

I prefer Sophia!

JunebabyT · 09/04/2017 18:57

Sophia

CocoLoco87 · 09/04/2017 19:24

Love them both! If I had to choose one I would go for Sophia Smile
