Is letty short for something?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/03/2017 08:51

Not Macey. The other two are ok.

Rockaby · 29/03/2017 09:00

I like Letty as a shortening for Violet or Scarlett, but it's a bit too much like Lottie on its own, which I've never been keen on as a stand alone name anyway. She might end up explaining "no, Letty, not Lottie". Not the end of the world, but worth considering imo.

Remy I'm still unsure about. I've only ever heard of it on here, despite having lived in France, (it's French is it)? It sounds a bit medical to me. Like rheumy or Rennies.

Macey is lovely! I vote for that by miles and miles, unless Letty is short for Scarlett / Violet / Henrietta or something. In which case I like both equally.

Rockaby · 29/03/2017 09:01

Although Henrietta would probably become Hettie or Etta.

Sophronia · 29/03/2017 09:16

Letty if short for Violet, Scarlett or Letitia.

ColourfulOrangex · 29/03/2017 09:24

I like Macey but spelt as Maci, not keen on Letty and Remy I only know boys with that name but it's cute

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 29/03/2017 09:31

Not Macey (or Maci). But Marnie would be cute.

Anyhow: I like Remy.
Letty is adorable but it's imo a nickname. For Lettice, Scarlett, Violet, Juliet etc. I wouldn't put Letty on the bc. So, my vote goes to Remy.

Congratulations :)!

BasicBetty · 29/03/2017 09:44

Congratulations! Letty is my favourite.
I've only ever heard Remy as a boys name.

florascotianew · 29/03/2017 10:19

Remy is a male name. It's French, and short for Remigius - a saint who played a well-known part in early French politics. The name was origininally Latin and means 'oarsman'. Grammatically speaking, it has a masculine ending.

The saint also gave his name to a well-known tourist town in Provence - and is still the name of a very, very famous French brandy www.st-remy-authentic.com/?age-verified=8cdde6fed0

Letty is pretty, as a nn for Violet, Lettice etc etc as suggested above.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/03/2017 10:38

Or Collette (Letty).
I quite like Macey, but Remy for me, is more masculine.

Samm2403 · 29/03/2017 10:57

Thank you for your input guys! So undecided..... never thought it would be such a hard decision to make.
I hope when she arrives and I see her I'll know Smile

Remy is a boys name.
Lettie is short for something
Macey is a shop

What other options do you have? How about Maisie or Charlotte with Lottie for short? Or Lettonie, lettie for short?

Rockaby · 29/03/2017 11:05

Macey is so much cooler than Maisie IM personal O. Reminds me of Macy Gray, who I think is pretty cool. I think I prefer the spelling Macy.

I think there was a thread on here recently where someone had named their DD Macy but people kept assuming it was Maisie. Something to consider, if that would bother you OP.

Charlotte with nn Lottie is nice too.

Lemonnaise · 29/03/2017 11:05

Macey is lovely.

Kazzawazza69 · 30/03/2017 19:30

I like Maci/Macy/Maisie

SuperBeagle · 30/03/2017 20:36

I like Macy the best (this spelling).

Letty is sweet as a nickname. Remy is traditionally masculine, although I know one who's a girl so I think it can work for a girl too.

Oh, and Mac(e)y is much nicer than Maisie.

MelinaMercury · 30/03/2017 23:31

Macey is my favourite by a long shot, although I do prefer it spelled Macy/Maci.

Letty is fine as a nickname but it doesn't sound like a stand alone name to me, maybe short for Colette, Violet?

I'm not keen on Remy, Renee is similar but much nicer.

Joeybee · 31/03/2017 06:28

They are all good nicknames but I feel they should be short for something - gives the name more flexibility and room to grow.

GenerationYmember · 31/03/2017 08:52

I love Macy.

Really dislike Letty and not fussed on Remy.

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 31/03/2017 08:56

Romilly nn Romi or Milly?
