What are your son's names?

.....because me and DH can't come up with any boy's name that we like, we can't think of anything that we even half-like Confused

We have got about 4/5 girl's names that we like but our boy's names list is completely empty.

With DS we found out he was a boy at 16 weeks and we still hadn't come up with a name by 39 weeks. In the end I let DH call him something I wasn't even that keen on because there was nothing I liked myself.

We need inspiration!!!

My sons are Samuel (Sam) and Frederick (Fred).

Middle names are after musicians from bands DH and I love.

Other names we considered had a tendency to be "surnames", like Watson, Jones, Wilson etc. They worked with our surname because our surname is commonly used as a first name too. But we decided we weren't quite cool enough in the end. Grin

Pick a theme, eg british kings, new testament, old testament, Shakespeare, old man etc to help narrow it down and then choose your favourite from that. Or pick a letter. There is so much choice it's really hard.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/03/2017 14:48

My sons' names are both very common (as in popular), so there is probably no point offering those up! Grin

Their middles names & other names on our shortlist are/were;

Michael
Marcus
Joseph
Lucas
Daniel
Isaac
Ben(jamin)

Names that might be in a similar vain to Arron;

Kai
Callum
Lincoln
Aidan/Aiden
Charlie
Mason
Lewis

My son's middle name is Owen. What drew you to the name Arron? It has a unusual hard rolling 'r' in the middle, would similar names work?

Rhys
Rees
Robert
Fredrick
Archer/Archie
Christopher

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 23/03/2017 15:01

OrangeIsTheNewPop · 23/03/2017 15:06

mumma I never came across anyone who spelt "Korbyn" this way before!

I'm afraid I'm one of those universally-hated people who have kids with matching names- my DD's name is Karyn.

BingThing · 23/03/2017 15:57

My sons are Jonah and Flynn

Dc3 due on tues and we can't decide on boys or girls name! Our list so far is...

mummabearfoyrbabybears · 23/03/2017 18:59

Orangels to be fair it was in the baby name book beginning with a 'C' but we already had a child starting with 'C' so had to be Korbyn Smile

Writerwannabe83 · 23/03/2017 19:07

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've read off some that I really like to DH and the miserable Sod said no to them all Hmm

We weren't really "drawn" to Arron, we just didn't know what else to call him. It was a name my DH had suggested a few times that I'd previously said no to but there was nothing else on the list so in the end I just agreed.

He wanted to spell it the traditional way of Aaron but I said no because I didn't want it being pronounced Air-ron.

Joking aside, though. Hopefully if it is another boy he'll name himself. My mum said I did. She saw me and I had my name written all over me.

What does your husband like in a name? Does he like short names, or something that can be shortened? Maxwell, Samuel, David?

There's also ones that can't be like Evan or Paul.

Or something a bit different like Roman or Jackson perhaps?

Old fashioned like Phillip or Ronald?

Do either of you have a 'different heritage' to work from?

Grannyben · 23/03/2017 20:19

I had girls but I had 4 boys names picked out:
Daniel
Benjamin
Samuel
Joseph
I think they sound beautiful "proper" names and i always imagined myself as an old lady with my boys Dan, Ben, Sam and Joe
