What do people think about Judy for a girl? I love it but DH not sold. Other names we like are Bridget and Louise....

I love it. But would probably go for Judith. Can it be short for anything else?
Jude?

I prefer the simplicity of Judy - and then she could call herself Jude, if she wants to....

I prefer Jude for a girl. Judy feels a bit 50s-60s to me - dated, but not quite enough to be fashionably "vintage" (yet - you could be ahead of the curve!)

Love Bridget though, and Louise is nice enough too.

Paperdove87 · 20/03/2017 18:20

I love it! So cute! And also works for an adult woman I think too.

Thatextrainch · 20/03/2017 18:46

It's in the same league as Daphne and Sylvia imo and they are loved on mn

Oly5 · 20/03/2017 19:00

I love Louise. It's my favourite out of your list

Fauchelevent · 20/03/2017 19:02

There are plenty of great Judys, and "best judies" connotation... but I think I prefer Judith! But if you like Judy go for it.

I love Louisa more than Louise.

Sophronia · 20/03/2017 19:40

I think it's really cute but works well for a woman too.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/03/2017 19:44

Love Bridget.
How about Jodie Louise.

Rockaby · 20/03/2017 19:56

I love Bridget. Bridget Louise is nice. Also quite like Jodie but not Judy really.

How about Josie, maybe with Josephine on the BC? Josephine Bridget and Josephine Louise are both nice.

PonderLand · 20/03/2017 19:58

I love the name Judy, my DS is called Jude but I've nn him Judy Blush

NotYoda · 20/03/2017 19:59

I Don't like Bridget

Judy is OK, but I prefer:

Joy
Julia
Juliet
Juno

I prefer Louisa to Louise

treaclesoda · 20/03/2017 20:01

I much prefer Judy to Judith for some reason. I like it, I think it's quite quirky.

I'm old enough to be reminded of my childhood comics, of which Judy was one. I think the character Judy herself had dark curly hair in huge pigtails. Very pretty. Smile

NotYoda · 20/03/2017 20:04

treacle

Yes, Judy and also Mandy. I think there was a Debbie too. Then Jackie of course

ImSoUnoriginal · 20/03/2017 20:08

Might just be me and it may have been pointed out to you already but the first thing I thought when I saw it, was Punch and Judy. I guess it's not that popular these days so shouldn't be much of an issue.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 20/03/2017 21:08

Prefer Judy to Judith. Like it!

buttercup54321 · 21/03/2017 10:59

Judith is much nicer. Like Juliet too.

ladylucky · 21/03/2017 22:17

The one I know is cool, clever, compassionate amazing and quirky. She's everything is want my daughter to be. So much cooler than Judith.

crapfatbanana · 21/03/2017 22:31

Judy makes me think of Punch and Judy. Or Judy Finnegan.

Judith is better.

Sabistick · 21/03/2017 22:36

Judy is due a comeback, never met a pleasant judith ,so im a bit bias against that name. Love bridget. Also like jill ,and gillian. But these two might not be appreciated by others.

SuperBeagle · 21/03/2017 22:37

I don't like it.

At least half of my friends have mums named Judy, so, to me, it's still outdated (see Deborah, Belinda, Michelle, Christine, Karen, Sharon etc).

Juliet can get you the nickname Jude (or Jet! Very cool), and it's much nicer.

BastardBloodAndSand · 21/03/2017 22:38

Nah, what about something like Julia ??

shitgibbon · 21/03/2017 22:42

I like them all, but prefer Bridget.

Judy is fine by itself. I like it better than Judith.

Sunshineandlaughter · 21/03/2017 22:43

I like Judy. I also like Mary - lovely simple but cool 'round' girls names

reuset · 22/03/2017 13:40

It still feels a bit dated to me. Was always the name of the central character in my pony books, growing up, or so it seemed.

I prefer it as short for Judith. Though I have a friend, Judith, who refuses to answer to Judy Grin She hates it. I'm not a fan myself.
