Friends mother is having a baby due in 2 weeks and they can't decide.
Also haven't got a middle name so suggestions would be helpful

it is used so frequently spelt that way and pronounced that way that no one will bat an eyelid. Both the Caitlin's I know are Irish and pronounce it cate-lin

Oh, I'm not suggesting it will create general consternation in Ireland - far from it, as you say. Some Irish people can be as ill-informed about their own language and heritage as any other nationality.

Both are very lovely names. I would lean on Caitlin if I were choosing for myself only because DH has said no to Freya before. It's much easier to shorten Caitlin.
