No, I wouldn't.
Same way I wouldn't have a Billy and a William or a Frank and a Francis.

I wouldn't. It's like having a Patrick and a Paddy, or a Charlotte and a Lottie.

You'd in effect have two children with the same name.

You could have Edward and Theodore (at a push) and shorten them to Ed and Theo if you really needed to shorten them.

Dermot and Petal Whilst Teddy and Theo sound dissimilar, that's slightly missing the point: they are both the short-form of Theodore. People would assume the OP had called both her sons Theodore.

No, it's the same name. Theodore. Teddy and Theo are just diminutives.

But teddy is also short for Edward. If I met a theo and teddy I would assume they are Edward and Theodore not both theodore

I once taught sisters in consecutive year groups called Katie and Kathryn. I must admit the general view was it is a bit odd. Toby is a similar ish name? I know little squishy baby twins called Theo and Toby.

I would assume Teddy is short for Edward, never heard of it being short for Theodore!

Ted/Teddy is also short for Edward.
so Edward and Theodore = Teddy and Theo.

But you're sailing close to the wind. Depends how much you care what other people think.

Even though Teddy can be short for Edward as well as Theodore, it's so often short for Theodore that it does sound a little as if you've given them both the same name. Calling girls Kitty and Cathy or boys Ned and Ted would be the same, even though your Ned might be Edward and your Ted Theodore.

No. And it's something I put my foot down over many, many years ago. Edward and Theodore = No. Both lovely names but not for brothers. Good job the baby was a girl but would have been Oscar or Oliver .

Yes as others have said I'd think of teddy as being able to be short for any of the ed-names.
I guess like Beth could be Elizabeth or Bethany derived
