Hippy names / unusual names / bold names

For a girl!

Names we kind of like but aren't quite grabbing us / can't use for whatever reason. Any suggestions welcome. We have Quincy and Hero (ages 4 and 2). I seem to err towards Greek origin names, DH just likes "hippy names" or unusual ones. The ones on this list are ones we kind of like but haven't quite grabbed us enough. She will be mixed race with Jamaican and Jewish heritage - we have looked through names of those origins but Aphra is the only one we really liked.

India
Star - would love to use but feel like along with Hero, it's a bit much i.e. One's a hero, one's a star Grin
Ione
Indie
River
Rain
Aphra
Echo - would love this but again, it's a bit much along with Hero
Phoenix - I love this but DH vetoed.

Gone through all the variations of Indira, Imani, Indiana etc.

Love things like India Arie but DH says it's a bit much to straight up copy a singer's name, haha.

Nothing is totally grabbing us but this is the general feel of what we like. Any suggestions gratefully welcomed!

I like Rain and Aphra :)

Some unusual ones I've come across lately:

Auva (a star)
Neoma (Greek new moon)
Lumi (Finnish snow)

I used to have a mate called Indigo in the 90s. His parents were hippies.

Cosmicglitterpug · 16/03/2017 15:42

I'm quite surprised Iris is considered a hippy name. I have an Iris and I'm as far removed from being a hippy as it's possible to be!

Sky is nice.
Cosima.
Celeste.
Indigo.
Saffron.

Noa

IHeartKingThistle · 16/03/2017 16:06

I think Indie sounds perfect with your other DC's names

Willow
Autumn

BroomstickOfLove · 16/03/2017 17:12

Cosmic I think that a lot of people are suggesting Iris because the OP likes Classical names and her DH likes nature names. Iris is both of those, and goes quite well with the Danes of her other DC.

Actually, purely on ground of going-with-the-other-names, I'd suggest Ramona. Quincey, Hero and Ramona would make a great set of sisters.

BroomstickOfLove · 16/03/2017 17:14

Although I am making a random guess that the other two are girls for some reason.

I actually really really like Aphra.
I could never use anything so unique, the little village we're in literally has all the top 100 names... For everyone.
When they ask dd4's name (around here) they sort of repeat and question it at the same time, as if I've said the wrong name.

yoohooitsme · 17/03/2017 15:41

Ione and Aphra they are both lovely and make a great trio too
