I've got it!!!

Spruce Sassafras

msgrinch · 06/03/2017 20:54

There was an Oakley on the postnatal ward when Ds was born, raised a giggle as that silly cbeebies program was on then. When we found out his sister was Willow and brother was Ash, well a few weak bladders went. Personally i think Oakley is a ridiculous name for a human anyway, thats just in my head, but coupled with another tree name it becomes hilarious. Stop it. Behave. You're naming a human.

dalmatianmad · 06/03/2017 20:55

Much needed to cheer me up on a wet Monday night Grin

Rockaby · 06/03/2017 20:55

I really like the name Ash, but not so keen on Ashley really.

I think of the sunglasses when I hear Oakley too which would put me off.

Birch isn't a very nice sound to me, so I'm not keen on that.

If you want the two tree names together, I like Ash Rowan or Rowan Ash. Yes it's heavy on the tree theme, but meh, if that's what you like. And he'll rarely say his middle name in day to day life anyway.

Alternatively, you could have Ash River or Rowan River maybe? Sticking with nature theme.

wobblywonderwoman · 06/03/2017 20:57

Sapling ?

DizzyDigestive · 06/03/2017 20:58

Oakley is OK, I'd think of a different middle name though.

Nelllo · 06/03/2017 20:58

I like Ashley, I know a lovely woman (Ashleigh) and a bloke called Ashley.

Birch though... Hmm

Nelllo · 06/03/2017 21:01

And yes, Oakleys are sunnies.

TinfoilHattie · 06/03/2017 21:03

Yew have to be joking to ash us about this. Think Oakley is probably too poplar. Have you looked at alder names or just tree ones? Aspen people on an internet forum maple isn't the best idea. You might cypress others with your ideas though.

17caterpillars1mouse · 06/03/2017 21:19

Ashley Birch

There is an Oakley who goes to the local story and rhyme we attend and everytime his parents say his name it really grates I me. I think it's one of my least favourite names. I just find it awful. Sorry

OSETmum · 06/03/2017 21:31

I think The sunglasses connection to Oakley is very cool but only if you're child is likely to grow up cool enough to pull it off! He'd need to be some sort of motor racer really!

CakeRattleandRoll · 07/03/2017 00:06

I like Oakley. Of your options, I prefer Oakley Birch.

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 07/03/2017 00:08

How about Dutch Elm? Sorry OP don't like any of them.

PointlessUsername · 07/03/2017 00:12

Keeping with the Nature theme, how about Bracken?

I dont actually mind Oakley as a friend has a dd called that. Ash as a middle name would be a No from me though.

Sophronia · 07/03/2017 00:40

Ashley

Sophronia · 07/03/2017 00:41

I actually know an Ashley Oakley (first name + surname) Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 07/03/2017 00:41

If you want the two tree names together, I like Ash Rowan or Rowan Ash.

Or to give rowan its other name, Ash Mountain Ash, or Mountain Ash Ash.

RubyBluesey · 07/03/2017 00:42

All awful.... why do you want to use tree names?

JonesyAndTheSalad · 07/03/2017 00:43

Poor OP.

ScarlettFreestone · 07/03/2017 00:50

I'm very sorry to be blunt but Oakley is either a pair of sunglasses or a dog.

Birch is a tree not a person.

If you like tree names go for Rowan for a gender neutral name or Laurel or Willow for a girl.

Ashley is ok ish but I can never get past the super uselessness of Ashley Wilkes.

(Sorry)

SuperBeagle · 07/03/2017 04:44

They're all awful, truly.

ChocolateSherberts2017 · 07/03/2017 04:50

Not my cup of tea, a bit too try hard. If you really want a tree name then pair it with a traditional middle name to balance it. For eg:
Oakley James Surname
Ashley James Surname

catsarenice · 07/03/2017 04:56

Love Oakley but not keen on Ash or Ashley - think of squeaky, wet Ashley Peacock from Corrie!

Rockaby · 07/03/2017 07:08

Errol Grin woops! I never knew that.

Roseandbee · 07/03/2017 19:48

Is your surname Tree?
If not maybe branch out like RedSauce suggested lol
Im going out on a limb here and presuming this is a joke? but sorry if this is a serious post.
Jokes aside i think the child would be bullied if you give them two tree names
