Skye and Marshall

My colleague has just announced the name of her newborn baby boy as Marshall. She has a 9 year old called Skye.

Skye and Marshall... would you tell her about PP?

I know a Ben and Holly too, Holly is the elder so the thought was no one would notice... we do...

I think that the majority of the public won't have heard of Paw Patrol. It's not like calling kids Donald and Melania or something like that, which would really invite ridicule. Love the name Skye btw.

I think the show is Fab. .my kids are crazy for it..4 dvds of it that have been watched repeatedly...My Fave pup is Everest. .Love huskies..lol

OK FallenSky, maybe that was a slight exaggeration, but as a parent of older children who have never heard of them, it is very much a generation thing.

Both times we were name hunting Skye was near the top of the list in one way or another. Love that name...Quite like the pup too (she has a jet pack, what's not to like!?)
I think paw patrol is one of those programmes where there's no underlying measage, no hidden education and is just pure marketing for toys.

I've never watched Paw Patrol so didn't get the link but my first thought was "Bridesmaids".

I don't know who Ben and Holly are so wouldn't find that a problem.

No point in telling her about paw patrol as the deed has already been done.

Perhaps her daughter knows and has had some influence in it.. My son and my niece named my daughter. And like both of them she has a Disney name. Do i care? Do i f**k.

My dd shares a name with a certain we known cartoon about talking, puddle hopping farm animals. So I can't pass comment. I did know. It's a family name.

My DS shares a name with a pp character, he arrived a few years before the show. He loved the show and thought it was cool to have the same name as his favourite character plus it meant he finally got his name on a t-shirt.
If she doesn't know about paw patrol I'm sure she will in a few years.

I don't know Paw Patrol but isn't a Sky Marshal in the US a plain clothes anti-hijacking guy on a flight?

My siblings and I are all named after TV charachtets, thankfully from three different shows so no obvious link!

I too thought it sounded like a job description. I've never seen Paw Patrol, or know why Eminem was mentioned

The names definitely made me think of Paw Patrol (my 3 year old's favourite!) but if your colleague doesn't know about it then I wouldn't tell her! Especially as new baby is already here and has been named.

Sky marshalls are used on flights in the USA as undercover cops....at least, that's what happened in the Nick Leeson film!

Just because it obviously means something to a small percentage of the adult female population (at a guess those between 25 and 35??

What a strange thing to say. You think only women aged 25 to 35 watch PP?!

I have two children. The names would mean something to them. And to me. And to my DH (a man in his 30's). And to my parents (man and woman in their 50's).

But no, I wouldn't tell your colleague! If their heart is set on those names it won't make a difference.

We met a family on holiday with boys called Buzz and Woody.
