We are expecting dd1. Will you please help us with our short list?

We quite like Scandi names. I am Norwegian-born and DH is half English half Swedish. We are also both British citizens and settled here but visit family in Scandinavia frequently.

In order of our my current preference:

1 Stella
2 Hilda
3 Selma
4 Vera
5 Elisa

Would you mind rating these names to help narrow it down?

I appreciate these are not popular or common names in Britain but would they work here? Thank you for your help. Cake

How about Elvira? I saw it on an old property document and remember imagining what she was like and thinking how few women owned their own properties in those days

JunebabyT · 10/02/2017 17:18

I like Stella and Elisa

Definitely not Hilda IMO !

HeteronormativeHaybales · 10/02/2017 17:25

Elisa is lovely.

I like Stella in theory (lovely meaning etc), but not in practice.

The others aren't nice. Sorry. Hilda of Whitby would be a cool namesake, but unfortunately the name's been ruined by overuse in the old-lady bracket.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/02/2017 18:57

Stella, love that name, although Elisa is very pretty.

TheDowagerCuntess · 10/02/2017 20:15

Joining the (very) few dissenters who don't like Stella.

I have to admit, the names aren't really to my taste.

What about Linnéa?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/02/2017 20:26

Elisa is the nicest out of an awful bunch.

FatOldBag · 10/02/2017 20:32

Elisa is nicest imo. I really dislike all the others, sorry.

LumelaMme · 10/02/2017 20:42

Margaret Hilda Thatcher.
Just sayin'.

Another vote here for Stella and Elisa.

BridgetDarcy · 26/02/2017 08:22

Stella - it was in my shortlist but H isn't keen.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/02/2017 09:34

All woeful aside from Elisa.
Hilda is particularly dreadful
