I'm 34 weeks today and really struggling to come up with a name for a baby girl.

Due in march and would love something to do with spring but nothing fits.

I'm very fussy as nothing sounds perfect enough.

Would like Clara either as first or middle name (sentimental value) but can't seem to find anything that goes well with it.

Currently stuck with Clara-Mae but nothing else. Like names beginiging with S.

Don't want nothing to unusual (will always be spelt wrong or mispronounced) but also don't want the most common name.

Confused

Clara-Mae G... is plenty of names for one little person imho Smile.

smilingsarahb · 07/02/2017 16:39

Ffion, Elise, Marie, Josephine, bridget, celestial, nicole

SatsukiKusakabe · 07/02/2017 16:48

I think if you are going for Clara-Mae, then yes, you don't need a middle name as well if you don't have one you love. Clara is lovely on its own though...

chel0317 · 07/02/2017 16:51

I do agree! I don't want nothing that is too much of a mouthful but always thought having a middle name is nice. I didn't want a double barrelled first name either originally so really not sure.

Clara (first name) Mae (middle name) is a possibility or just Clara-Mae and no middle name.

I would have liked Clara as the middle name but just don't love a name enough for a first name so very frustrating Hmm

Clara with Mae as a middle name sounds like a decent compromise. Is it your OH who likes Clara and likes the double barrel first name idea? Only fair to meet in the middle (middle name ha) Grin!

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 17:01

Also, how about Rosalie Clara?

chel0317 · 07/02/2017 17:06

Yes he is quite happy with the double barrelled, I kind of suggested it though but more for a middle name but now relalising it won't really work as a middle name Sad

I don't really like the name Rose or any variations of it. I think Rosie is pretty but not for me.

Clara Daisy
Clara Vanessa
Clara Danielle
Clara Faye
Clara Maxine
Clara Joanne
Clara Nancy

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 17:17

Emily Clara
Clara-Mae Holly
Clara-Mae Emily
Clara Mae
Clara Rae

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 17:20

And Mae is totally fine as a middle name if you want it, unless there is some reason it has to be included in the first name.

chel0317 · 07/02/2017 17:22

No no, I just really like the name Mae so could be the middle name. Love Emily but is my best friends name so wouldn't really want to pick it. Rae is lovely. I like Lea too but don't think it sounds as pretty as the 'ay' sound with Clara

Oh I seeeeee! Penny drops. You wanted Mae Clara? I suppose that doesn't flow all that wonderfully... but it's still very nice and both names are rarely said together irl ime.

chel0317 · 07/02/2017 17:33

Actually originally I wanted Mae as a middle name and then we decided on Clara but no I didn't think Mae Clara sounded as pretty as Clara Mae.

I wanted Sienna Mae but as my partner wants Clara, I'm not sure Sienna Clara or Sienna Clara-Mae works Sad

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 17:34

Oh sorry I'm easily confused!

I actually think Sienna Clara is lovely!

hiimmumma · 07/02/2017 17:35

What about Maeve?

Or Clara Maeve

Of if you want floral how about Fleur?

Clara does go with a lot but with Clara first rather than the middle name.
Clara Jane
Clara Lou(ise)

katherine775 · 07/02/2017 17:37

What about April?
Clara April or April Clara?
Good luck :)

hiimmumma · 07/02/2017 17:41

Just re read about liking S names..
Sophia Clara
Sian Clara
Stephanie Clara
Susannah Clara

I think is better with the longer names in front

Good luck! Flowers

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 17:42

Clara (1st name) Mae (middle name) Surname.

Sounds like you've made the decision, OP! And pretty it is, too. Flowers

Sophronia · 07/02/2017 17:58

SatsukiKusakabe · 07/02/2017 18:12

If you aren't keen on Clara as a first name then do not call your daughter it. Honestly.

Decide on a name you both like for first, and have Clara as a middle. You are overthinking it, it will sound lovely as a middle with lots of names. Sienna Clara is very pretty, but the first name will be the most used, the first-surname flow is more important.

pinkish · 07/02/2017 18:18

Clara Mae is loads nicer than Clara-Mae

This^^ is great advice. Don't overthink how the first and middle names sound together. Of all the people I know, I hardly know any of their middle names! It's so much more important that you both like the first name. You will have to use it every day!
