Really can't decide!

Mixed, the closest spelling of the word from which Layla comes is "laylah", so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Layla is closer to laylah than Leila is.

Also, Layla and the Majnun.

Layla. Then she won't have any pronunciation issues.

Rightly or wrongly, half the Leilas are pronounced 'leela' or 'lyla'.

I have a friend Laila pronounced Lay la.

Two spellings that are so different!

Layla makes it a retro 70s name. (Some will see it as dated, some will like the Clapton connection or love the cool throwback feel it has). Leila makes it a typical trendy 2010s name, along with all the Lilas, Lilys and Lolas . (Some will see it as very pretty and others will find it boring and unoriginal). Whatever you feel is most 'you', I guess.

I know a Leila pronounced Leela and she's terrific.

Layla, like the song.

I have two Persian friends and one is spelt Leyla and the other Lailla

Leila because that's my best friend's name 😊
