Our current favourite is Elliot, but I'm not sure if it 'goes' with our surname. Our surname is Thistle...

Middle name will be Matthew (as DH's surname was Matthewson)...

Elliot Matthew Thistle - does it sound okay?

Other names that are on our list:

  • Alexander
  • Noah

We love Finn, but that's a definite no Grin

Sounds good to me Laurie !
Congratulations 🌺

I'm not convinced that Elliot goes very well with Thistle, but it's not terrible so if you love Elliot maybe use it anyway.

I don't think Matthew works because of the repetition of "th"... but as it was DH's surname I can totally see why you want to use it. As it's a middle name I think it's ok.

I think Alexander Thistle is the best option, definite better than Noah Thistle which sounds weird for some reason!

Elliot Thistle is a lovely name

NameChange30 · 02/02/2017 22:52

What about Elijah?
Elijah Matthew Thistle is a cool name Smile

Alexander is nice but if he'd be nicknamed Alex, then Alex Thistle is a bit of a tonguetwister TBH.

Noah Thistle sounds fine, although Noah can sound like "no, a..." before an adjective type surname... "No, a thistle".

I think Elliot does go with your surname.

Elliot Matthew Thistle is lovely, OP.

sonlypuppyfat · 03/02/2017 06:37

How come your DH changed his name

NameChange30 · 03/02/2017 08:03

sonly
That's not relevant is it?! And you wouldn't ask a woman why she changed her surname!

LaurieT88 · 03/02/2017 10:28

Thank you all.

I really like Elliot Mathew Thistle. Congrats Laurie

KlingybunFistelvase · 03/02/2017 13:01

I think Noah Matthew Thistle and Noah Thistle sound the nicest.

I don't really like Elliot or Alexander Thistle but they're both perfectly nice names.

sonlypuppyfat · 03/02/2017 13:45

Just being nosey Grin

YahooScreen · 03/02/2017 13:47

sonly would you have asked if someone said 'because my maiden name is X'?? It's a bit rude.

I like Elliot OP.
