Clementine lily - too twee?

Clementine is currently our frontrunner. DP's favourite name is Lily but it's not mine so we've compromised that it could be the middle name.

Do you like this or does it sound a bit twee? Middle name could be anything as DP adamant on no family names as too many people in his family share the same names so other suggestions welcome.

My DS (preteen) has been saying for years he will call his daughter Clementine. It is classical and pretty.

It's lovely. Normally, I am not keen on two word names (iyswim!) together but these go together well.

Personally I don't love the name Clementine, I do find it a bit twee and very U.

But then the only person I ever met called Clementine was, uhhh, not a lovely person, so I guess that probably clouds my judgment.

I don't like Clementine at all. I went to school with a girl whose name was Florentine, and people would always forget her name and call her Clementine. She was a bit posh, and I think people who generally think "posh" about this name.

I love Lily.

It sounds fine together, though I think Lily Clementine is nicer.

I'm glad people don't think it's too twee together. @scarletsienna, yes I know what you mean a fruit and a flower, that's why I'm a bit worried about it being twee.

We only know one Clementine (vaguely, not well) and she's a kickass creative architect :)

We're in NZ and lily is super popular here, apparently Olivia is the most popular baby name but we know so many people with Lily's.

Interestingly my cousin is due about the same time as me and her husband loves lily too so it must be a man thing!

Clementine Churchill was a very strong woman.

It's a very pretty name but does make me think of the sad song, unfortunately.

I bloody love the name Clementine. Have done for decades, long before it had a resurgence.

I don't think it has the same connotations in Aus/NZ as it does in the UK. I'd go for it!

I think for me it is borderline twee. What would clementine be shortened to? Clemmie lily has the double ee sound that I'm not fond of. Both individually are lovely names.

Lily would be the baby's middle name so I don't think anyone would call her Clemmie lily?

LOVE Clementine! Lily not so much but no one ever says my full name + mn's so I don't think you need to worry about it sounding too twee unless you were going to hyphenate it? The name Clementine to me isn't twee at all. it's very cool :)

Does sound a little twee...but not so much so that it's not useable. I think it's nice, and it's good to make a compromise with the name.
