Surname is two syllables beginning with H. No clue about middle names

Gideon just makes me think of George osbourne (that's his real name) so depends on your view of him I think! (Brings on an involuntary shudder in me!)

Gideon is dreadful. Gives rise to nicknames like Gidiot and reminds me of that supercilious smug prat Osborne.

Love Martha. What about Vera or Betty? Don't like Alba at all, though Albert and Bertie are nice for boys. You don't hear John or David nowadays. Also Christopher shortened to Kit.

I really like your lists. In-fact Martha and Olive are also on my list too. Dorothy is a really nice, classic name, which I like as it's not overly popular, but people will have heard of it. Rosa would be a really good middle name I think.

I'm not going to worry about that - like PP's have already said, our children probably won't know who George Osborne is, much less that his real name was Gideon.

i know of an awful lot of dogs called Jasper. It's the boy dog equivalent of Daisy the Labrador round these parts.
