My husband and I have it down to four possibilities, but we're struggling to decide. Any thoughts?

Jackson
Aiden
Tristan
Sebastian

Thanks for your comments so far.

Given these are our favourite 4 boys names, fair that they may not be to your taste, but would be nice if people didn't comment that any of them were awful! Thanks

Sebastian. Smile

You've asked for our thoughts" OP.

Of course you are going to get comments about what people think.

Anyway, before a baby is born I think it's fine if you know your choice might be unpopular. It gives you a chance to come to terms with that thought, and be prepared if someone says something negative in real life.

AmeliaJack · 18/01/2017 07:33

I'm not so keen in Jackson but any of the other three are great

Go and stand at your back door and yell them in turn, that will help you choose and be good practice Grin

jlm223 · 18/01/2017 08:10

ThroughThickandThin - I did indeed, but I guess I just thought people would be a little more considerate. In terms of someone in real life saying something negative about the name we choose, I wouldn't be giving much weight to someone who would do something like that anyway.

Although Sebastian is on our top 4, and seems to be very popular, we are not very fond of any of the nickname options - Seb or Bas. Does anyone know any others?

Sebastian by a long-shot. Definitely not Jackson. sorry, but it really is awful

I know a Sebastian who is known as Bastian, which is nice.

Cakingbad · 18/01/2017 09:01

I didn't like Tristan because I thought it meant sad. But since I found out its Celtic not French I do like it.

So Tristan for me.

Sebastian is very popular on here but don't know if that's true in real life. I like it but I don't like Seb.

Love Tristan and Aiden, Sebastian makes me think of the crab from Little Mermaid sorry! x

jlm223 · 18/01/2017 11:43

Haha - didn't make the connection with the Little Mermaid!

jlm223 · 18/01/2017 11:47

I agree with Tristan we were put off when we found out it meant sad from the French, but from Celtic it means noisy, which could well be an apt name! I also like that it's a Celtic name.

Sebastian - much nicer than the others! Good luck.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/01/2017 16:21

Depending on what his middle name will be (or, indeed, if he's having one), one nickname option could be simply along the lines of "S.J." "S.P." etc?

BridgetDarcy · 18/01/2017 22:22

Sebastian wins by a mile.
Jackson is in last place by ten miles.

Stonewash · 19/01/2017 01:20

I like Tristan and Aidan (with this spelling).

Grufallosfriend · 19/01/2017 08:51

I like Tristan. Good solid band that won't need shortening. And it's not too common. Gr at choice.

The problem with Sebastian is that all the shortenings sound quite ugly imo Seb, Sebby, Basty... (in my opinion)

Joeybee · 23/01/2017 00:24

Sebastian definitely. Others are too popular.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/01/2017 00:29

You seem to have two sets of very different names there OP!

Aiden & Jackson on one hand - Tristan & Sebastian on the other.

Jackson is my favourite (maybe biased as I have a Jack - yes born 20 years ago, but named after my grandfather).

Sebastian I like, if known as Seb day to day.

Aiden & Tristan are not to my taste - for opposite reasons.
