Evening MNetters,

I am 33w and we don't know what we're having.

This is #2 for us and we are struggling to decide on a name.

We have narrowed it down to 2 girls names but we're struggling with boys names!

The girls shortlist is:
Tabitha
Clara

The boys list so far consists of:
Benjamin
Charlie
Arlo
Ernest

We both like both girls names, just can't decide.

Your thoughts on both lists would be much appreciated, and we are open to more suggestions for boys names.

TIA Smile

I like both the girls names equally...

I'd probably choose Clara because it's less likely to be shortened, and I prefer Tabitha in full to the Tabby nickname which seems inevitable. Smile

For a boy, I like Benjamin and Charlie equally. It just depends on whether you prefer Ben or Charlie. I would choose Charlie on that basis.

I don't like Ernest as it's still a bit too old man. I'm not sure this one will ever make a comeback, kind of like the name Humphrey.

I don't like Arlo as it's very trendy. It's already hit the top 100 where I live, and I know two people who've chosen Arlo in the last 12 months. I suspect this one will have a rapid increase in popularity and then drop off into oblivion shortly after, leaving it a very dated name.

Arthur is lovely, but I'm not keen on Art or Artie.

My favourites from your lists are Tabitha and Benjamin.

I do like Arthur too, but I know of 3 baby Arthurs born in the last 6 months so that puts me off a bit (although the name may just be becoming popular here)

Tabitha and Milo.

Clara and Arthur

Clara and Ernest.

Tabitha is a cat and a bit hipster.

Benjamin is nice, but very popular.
Arlo is completely hipster/ a bit try hard.
Charlie is ok.
Arthur- meh.

Not keen on Arlo, as I find it somewhat ... eh. The rest I think are great!

Mu51cal · 16/01/2017 13:24

I think I've gone off Arlo... we have a friend whose little boy is called Arlo, and he's adorable, but it doesn't have the same "traditional-ness" that I think I prefer...

Being a teacher, it's really hard to find names that haven't been ruined by naughty pupils!?! Confused
