I agree with the general point although there are some that haven't tipped over into being a female name. I think Jordan and Morgan are the most ambiguous.

I do think Rowan is unisex because I know boys and girls with the name. But people will no doubt start saying that Rowan is "too feminine" or "wet" for a boy. (I've seen comments like that about Robin, probably because Robyn has become popular for girls.)

Alex is a good unisex name because it could be short for Alexander or Alexandra. There must be other names like that... Chris for Christopher or Christina/Christine...

Avery, if you wanted to feminise it then you could spell it differently like Averie/Avarie

Shirley started off as a boy's name, but is now used almost exclusively for a girl (the only male Shirley I can think of is Shirley Crabtree).
