DP and I have narrowed it down to these 2. Can I have some opinions please?

Olivia.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2016 23:32

Olivia

crumpetsforteaa · 20/12/2016 23:41

I'm surprised you like both.

It's like Matthew and Kayden or something.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/12/2016 00:23

Oh I don't know. Theyre both gorgeous. Olivia is timeless and pretty, but overly common.
Kayley however is quite dated but at the same time very edgy snd indeed quite unusual now, and. Maybe its due a revival.
Not helpful, sorry

buttercup54321 · 21/12/2016 00:26

Olivia. What about Katie?

Pluto30 · 21/12/2016 00:37

Olivia.

I don't love the full name, but do love Liv.

Kayley is outdated. Plus, I have no idea what the "correct" spelling is and it would shit me to tears everyone spelling it differently. I knew a Caylee in my childhood, but that spelling looks off too.

Beebeeeight · 21/12/2016 00:43

They are very different.

Is one yours and the other DPs?

Kayleigh should be thus spelt.

Olivia is far too common.

user1482217471 · 21/12/2016 18:06

Why do people think it's spelt Kayleigh? The original is Kaylee.

Loyly · 21/12/2016 18:07

Olivia

This is why people think of Kayleigh: m.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ4oaLUilBc

Kaylee just looks daft.

juneau · 21/12/2016 18:35

Yes, Marillion - that's what I thought too!

Olivia, definitely.

Gallavich · 21/12/2016 18:37

Olivia is boring as fuck now but kayley is naff and dated. Try again?

Gallavich · 21/12/2016 18:38

Says who?

Twinkletowedelephant · 21/12/2016 18:39

I have a Kayleigh she's the only one in her school...I still don't like the name. ( Dh picked it I chose a boys name)
A Kayley I worked with at the time told me to spell it Kayleigh as that's what she has been correcting her entire life ;)

She has 5 Olivia's in her year group she loves it but everyone calls her k or kk

BayaGoji · 21/12/2016 18:42

Who knew?

Kayley or Olivia
Gallavich · 21/12/2016 18:43

There is no original spelling in that case
Unless the original spelling is ceileigh

FallenSky · 21/12/2016 18:44

My name is Kayleigh.

Don't think I've ever had any negative comments about it until this thread and it certainly hasn't held me back in my adult life. It's weird though, I can't imagine a baby called Kayleigh. No idea why.

I like it. And I was named after the song Xmas Grin

I like Olivia, too. Nothing wrong with either name imo.

Your baby, call her whatever you like. Not what other people like.

Gallavich · 21/12/2016 18:44

ceilidh
Whatever

BayaGoji · 21/12/2016 19:16

No, but it means that Kaylee did come before Kayleigh!

teddygirlonce · 21/12/2016 19:17

It's a no-brainer...Olivia every time....Kayley is just horrible and chavvy.

BobbieDog · 21/12/2016 19:17

I like both but i do think Olivia has been done to death. Its has been in the top ten baby names for the last 10 years or so and i think you will always find around 3 in the same year at school.

Kayleigh is an 80s name but very underused nowadays

Gallavich · 21/12/2016 19:33

It really doesn't mean that. Baby name sites make up all kinds of crap. Here is another site that says different www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/girl/kayleigh

BayaGoji · 21/12/2016 21:52

Baby name sites do make up a lot of crap that's true, but I do think behindthename is easily one of the most reliable, to be fair, given that it's purpose is to detail the history and etymology of names rather than to suggest ideas for soon-to-be-parents. And the research seems to be pretty thorough.

JudgeJudySheidlin · 21/12/2016 23:00

Went to school with Kayleigh/Kayleys so for me it fits in with the Sarah, Nicola & Michelle kinda names. Not that keen on the name as it sounds quite harsh. Olivia on the other hand is melodic & has excellent nn potential with Liv/Livvy/Oli
