Thank you...

Maybe. But they don't sound like siblings either.

What do you mean?

I think they are both lovely. Even more so together. They sound like they would be close, like a brother and sister in a novel.

Temporaryanonymity · 18/12/2016 01:43

For me they are names from different eras. Violet sounds like an Edwardian lady. Elliot doesn't. Can't quite place Elliott. Separately I like them though.

OlennasWimple · 18/12/2016 01:56

I think they are too close for child pronunciation, yes

Glitterous · 18/12/2016 09:18

For siblings? Yes, it's a bit matchy. They are both two of my favourite names though

Bobochic · 18/12/2016 09:20

Agree with others - phonetically too similar and socio-historically too far apart.

AmyInTheBoonies · 18/12/2016 09:22

I think they are fine, not too rhyming

I think if you like one sound you are often attracted to names with that sound again.

I have a penchant for names with the 'iss' sound in them for some reason.

Lovemylittlebear · 18/12/2016 09:24

I actually think it sounds lovely :) but then both my children have E names so I can't comment on Matchy

LobsterQuadrille · 18/12/2016 09:35

No, they are both lovely. I don't think they're too matchy because as a PP said, they conjure up images of very different eras. I know several families who have a Poppy and a Daisy which (for me) is much more matchy.

I think they sound fine together and both lovely names.

I want Elliot for Dc1 if a boy but it doesn't go with my surname - so I would say go for it!

1horatio · 18/12/2016 13:09

No. it sounds great.

Personally I think they're too similar, sorry!
