Brendan Callum or Alexander

I posted the other day about the name Brendan which is now on the shortlist.

If you were having a boy and lived in Scotland with irish roots (DH) would you name your child Brendan, Alexander or Callum?

I really don't want my son to share his name with anyone in his class!

I would choose Alexander, but if you're worried about popularity then that probably discounts it. So then I'd go with Brendan. Just sounds stronger and more refined than Callum.

Callum, although I prefer the 'Calum' spelling. But if you want him to be the only one in the class then Brendan is a safer choice (although not mine! Xmas Grin).

Last year there were 359 Alexanders, 318 Callum/Calums, and 11 Brendans born in Scotland, if that helps.

In that case, Brendan.

Alexander is a lovely choice and not that popular.

For something a little more unusual, how about Alistair / Alisdair?

AmandaK11 · 09/12/2016 13:23

Well Brendan is the pick per your requirements.

MollyRedskirts · 09/12/2016 13:27

I have an Alexander, so I'm biased.

Brendan is the name that fits your 'not popular' criteria. I like it better than Callum/Calum but not as much as Alexander . Grin

Oh, strikeout fail, booo.

lalaland1985 · 11/12/2016 10:20

Brendan it is!

I have an Alexander (love it!) and have yet to come across another baby Alex among the people I know who've had babies lately, or even one among my 4yr old's friends. Am in the SE of England though.
Prefer Callum out of the other two as Cal is a nice nn.
