What are your favourite names? Guilty pleasures or the names of/plans for DC, throw it all at me.

I'm a bit too early on in my pregnancy to be putting together name lists so I'm just throwing a few of my favourites out there in hope of a little feedback, and asking for yours in return for inspiration.

Boys: Clement, Laurent, Bellamy, Ezra, Heath, Christopher, John, Jack/Jaques, Ernest, Wren.

Girls: Margo(t), Cecily, Delphine, Rose, Eleanor (Nelle, Nora), Wilhelmina, Colette, Magdalena.

OH isn't keen on most of these

Names I did not get to use (or exh vetoed):
Girls - Cosima, Clodagh, Nell, Pearl, Oonagh, Tilda, Lucy, Coco, Romy, Jocasta, Saskia, Freya, Verity

Boys - Samuel, Asher, Leon, Jonah, Josiah, Sidney

reindeerbitesback · 07/12/2016 23:36

lizzieoak - Saskia: added to the list. (I love Cosima and Josiah, too, but I know OH would not)

Felix is being mentioned on this thread so often! It's my youngest brother's name and was so unpopular when he was born - fascinating.

cmxx - I completely obsess over names. I agreed with OH that I wouldn't start until after xmas but I can't help myself.

To the poster that asked about using Serena - I am thisclose to choosing it but it just feels SO 'out there' compared to all the other names being used around me atm!

reindeerbitesback · 09/12/2016 14:24

I adore the name Matilda/Mathilde but my sister has chosen it for her DD due in Feb - at least I will know one!

babyblabber · 09/12/2016 16:16

I don't think Serena is out there at all. I know two (adults)!

Currently expecting DC4 and think we've settled in Luca or Leo for a boy. I also love Beau or Teddy but DH did not.

Girls' names are so hard, there are so many I like but would use for various reasons. Can't find "the one"! I have a real issue with potential nicknames coz I hate the idea of choosing a name I love only for it to become a name I hate!
Penelope - is it a bit much?! Love Poppy too and don't mind Penny
Harper - ruined by beckhams
Aurora- but hate Rory as a nickname and I know it would happen
Aurelia - bit much? What weird nicknames would people use?
Eva - so pretty but maybe overdone esp with Ava, Evie etc
Posy - LOVE this but not brave enough coz most people seem to hate it
Robyn - really like but not sure I'm in love with it
Sienna - too similar to DD1's name
Elise - would it be shortened to Ellie, I would LOATH that!
Lara - like but not enough maybe
Eliana - prefer Elena but can't use it
Rose - what if people said Rosie, ugh!

Sillymummy81 · 09/12/2016 16:26

My favourite girls name is
Arrietty (yes, from The Borrowers). Husband hates it. Thankfully (for him) we had a boy!
Also love Aurelia and Ottillie.

Wombletor · 09/12/2016 16:30

My son's middle name is ClementSmile love it.
Love Delphine, its on my list if I get lucky again

WowserBowser · 10/12/2016 15:26

My daughter's name is on your girls list Reindeer and her middle name is on your boys list!

reindeerbitesback · 10/12/2016 16:31

sillymummy - I also love Aurelia (I originally liked Aurélie but English OH pronounced it the same as 'orally' so that was a non starter!).

wowser - you must have fantastic taste in names, then!

babyblabber - I wish I had put so much thought and research into my DDs name before I named them! I named my daughter something that is either unpronounceable in England if spelt one way or unpronounceable in France (my family are there) if spelt the other Confused.

babyblabber, FYI, I think the name Posy is absolutely charming.

I like Charlotte, Emily, Amelie and Katherine amongst others.
