Dc's are Eli & Aphra. We are trying for dc3 and passing the time thinking about names!

For a boy we are sorted and have a lovely (IMO) list

Tobias
Jedidiah
Rex
Jude
Cassius

But for a dd we are stumped. I don't feel that anything is perfect. So, opinions please and any suggestions welcome!

Sybil don't mind the Fawlty Towers association
Indie is it insubstantial
Greta is it too harsh
Juno
Tabitha family struggle with pronouncing the th

How about Esther or Eden?

Of your boy list, my favourite is Jedidiah by miles - I love it! Also love Abraham, Isaiah, Reuben and Caleb.

ViewBasket · 27/11/2016 21:59

I like Greta and don't think it's too harsh.

Sylvia
Indira (Indie for short)
Juliet
Imogen
Stella
Marlena
Josephine

CockneyViv · 28/11/2016 08:33

I like Juno and pp suggestion of Stella.

Indigo
Vivienne
Ophelia
Tamara

Pluto30 · 28/11/2016 09:13

Greta is lovely, and not harsh at all, IMO, but how do you feel about Gretel? Slightly softer, more cutesy sounding?

cheweduprope · 28/11/2016 11:24

I love Juno.

Hmmm I like Sylvia, India and Wren from suggestions but these have already been considered and dismissed for various reasons!

It seems even more difficult choosing a third as I want it to "fit' with Eli and Aphra, so we don't have a blank slate as such.

Bathsheba
Penelope
Phoebe
Delilah

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/11/2016 00:30

If you want it to 'fit' surely you need Hebrew/Old Testament names. So:

Rachael
Ester
Miriam

Those type of names.

Benedikte2 · 29/11/2016 01:02

Freya
Criseyde (pronounced Cris-aid and the old form of Cressida)
Adriel
Elisha
Sapphira
Jemima

pestov · 29/11/2016 01:04

I think you need something monosyllabic:
June
Bess
Maud
Joy

JanuaryJuniper · 29/11/2016 12:35

The problem with trying to get another Hebrew Old Testament name to "fit" is that I don't really like any girls names whereas there are loads of OT boys names I LOVE!

At the moment myself and dh are thinking...

Greta Zelda Veronica
Greta Zita Veronica
Greta Vera Juniper
Greta Vera Clementine

I'm afraid Greta Vita puts my teeth on edge like fingernails on chalk boards

Benedikte2 · 29/11/2016 13:06

I mean Zita

Benedikte2 · 29/11/2016 13:08

Vera is a nice and (now) unusual name -- goes well with Aphra which is also soft. I had a (pedigree) cat once called Aphra. She had a lovely patient nature and was a wonderful mother.

semideponent · 29/11/2016 13:41

Eva
May
Miriam
Hannah
Keziah
Leah
Rachel
Sarah
Rebecca
Sybil
Cassandra
Stella
Phoebe
Penelope

ShowMeTheElf · 29/11/2016 13:48

Eli, Aphra and Hannah.
Eli, Aphra and Ruth.
Eli, Aphra and Miriam.
I think it's a shame you don't like them: they all sound beautiful with your boys;' names. Lyrical almost.

Greta Zelda Veronica
Greta Zita Veronica
Greta Vera Juniper
Greta Vera Clementine
: Too many syllables. Greta is a very harsh beginning for such a mouthful of names for a tiny person.

JanuaryJuniper · 29/11/2016 14:39

I do like Ruthbutknow too many. Keziah is nice but does it have a hint of name a teenage mother would use ?

OP posts:
JanuaryJuniper · 29/11/2016 14:44

Actually Keziah is growing on me... Presuming I am pronouncing it correctly Kez eye ah?
