Agnes or Daisy?

I know they are totally different types of names, but we love them both. Also in the mix is Martha or Marianne. Any thoughts?

Agnes or martha.

SoftSheen · 26/11/2016 21:09

Definitely Marianne- elegant, classy, and relatively unusual.

Daisy and Martha are both nice, but popular and rather unremarkable names.

Not convinced by Agnes, though you could do worse.

BossWitch · 26/11/2016 21:15

Marianna?

JellyWitch · 26/11/2016 21:17

Agnes must be due a come back. Expect it to go top 50

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 26/11/2016 21:18

Hmm. I think Agnes might be a bit too niche to go top 50. Same with Agatha.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 26/11/2016 21:18

And Bertha.

TheRollingCrone · 26/11/2016 21:42

And Ursula
I think is Agnes is just beautiful. Not understanding the ugly comments.

Might help the only Agnes I ever met was French with long red hair and looked like a pre-raphaelite.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/11/2016 21:45

Daisy

eatyourveg · 26/11/2016 21:58

Martha definitely

Sophronia · 26/11/2016 22:00

Love Agnes, then Martha, then Marianne, then Daisy.

Bagina · 26/11/2016 22:02

I wanted an Agnes but wasn't brave enough. See also Norah and Audrey.

TheRollingCrone · 26/11/2016 22:07

Bagina I wanted Nora but wasn't brave enough - went for Anna instead, which I think is considered quite boring here.

Bagina · 26/11/2016 22:14

Anna is a proper name though and actually far more interesting these days as it's not really used!

enchantmentandlove · 26/11/2016 23:27

Definitely Daisy, Martha is really sweet too

JennyPocket · 26/11/2016 23:46

I like Daisy the best. I also do like Agnes but I think it's a harder name to work, somehow. I also think that Daisy is a name that is approachable, both the familiarity aspect and something about the way it looks. Agnes, although elegant, is a niche name and people can't place it as well/as much, quite a few wouldn't know how to spell it, so it might create a bit of a disconnect whereas Daisy is an instant connect.

JudgeJudySheidlin · 27/11/2016 00:58

Sorry OP but I think Agnes is another old name that does not deserve to be reborn. My next door neighbour was an Agnes (born 1962) & of Italian heritage. She was bland & frumpy, much like the name.

CakeRattleandRoll · 27/11/2016 07:42

Really like Agnes, and Aggie or Nessie/Nessa are two lovely nn possibilities. Also like Martha.

Jooni · 27/11/2016 09:32

Agnes is lovely, very sweet and sophisticated. Daisy is a bit little girlish and a bit "of the moment" IMO.
