Ya, Athina is not the right spelling.

To me Savannah sounds like either an African veldt, a city in the US, or just ... I don't know. I suppose the sound is nice enough, but it's not all about the sound or no-one would name their kid Harriet (which I quite like). There's cultural factors, literary connotations etc.

Darcy, Autumn, Athena, Scarlet

Not into Lottie, Molly (blurgh) or Hattie. Savannah is odd and Violet is 106 and smells of wee.

i like Lottie

Shesinfashion · 25/11/2016 17:59

I had a baby/toddler Lottie. When she was old enough to know her full name, that's what she wanted to be called. Your Lottie could become a Charlotte.

Luckily I like both names but I do prefer Lottie.

I wouldn't think of it as posh, lizzie, but the Queen has a great-granddaughter named Savannah (not one with a title, Princess Anne's granddaughter I think)

Pemba · 25/11/2016 19:27

It was quite a surprising choice really.

Didn't one of Anne's children marry a Canadian? That might account for it some of us have names like that. Moderny names. I suppose if I was a Victorian I'd be huffing and puffing over the trend for "new" names like Oscar and Hilda.

Lizzieoak, It's not posh where I live at all. Very Wonder bread and Miracle Whip I would say (I am in the US). But the daughter of Peter Phillips (son of Princess Anne) is Savannah. His wife is a Canadian citizen, Autumn (nee Kelly).

Hattie and Lottie are nicknames - both nice enough but should be Harriet and Charlotte.
Molly, Violet and Maisie are okay.
Savannah isn't my cup of tea but not dreadful.
Athena (spelled like that) is also ok but I find it a tad pretentious.
I can't bear Darcie.
Scarlett is pretty enough but quite a tough one for a child to pull off I think.
I would never use Autumn but I do sort of love it.
