Girls' names with boyish shortenings

I've always liked girls' names that have a boy-style nickname. Not sure why, just sounds cute to me. Like Roberta could be Bertie or Bobby... but I'm not all that keen on Roberta itself. Anyone have any suggestions? Samantha/Sam and Charlotte/Charlie were popular in my age group (80s-born!) so I probably wouldn't choose those but any more unusual ideas very welcome. Thank you Smile

I love Josephine shortened to Jo but Stevie is my favourite of this kind of girls name. Could be shortened from Stephanie.

I love Benita nn Bennie

Also like Francesca "Frankie", Aurora "Rory", Wilhelmina "Winnie" (I know Winnie is female in the UK, but my great uncle was Winnie although I'm not sure it was his full name) or "Billie" and Edwina or Edina "Eddie" that have been previously mentioned

I also love Winifred "Freddie", Benita "Bennie", Magdalena/Elena/Lena "Lenny/Leni", Charlotte or Ottilie "Otti" or "Otto".

Fannyfannakerpants · 20/11/2016 20:49

I know a Freda (Fred-a) which I think has just the right amount of boyishness to be very cool.

Oh just thought of Leonora / Leonie / Leonor "Leo / Lenny"

I once knew a Vanessa who was known as Vinny. Would also work for Davina.

Really lovely suggestions, thank you.

So far Aurora/Rory, Winifred/Freddie and Leonora/Leo are definitely going on the list!

Kinda love Persephone/Percy too but we have a P surname...

Leonora and Aurora were my suggestions Grin and they're also on my (very hypothetical atm) list too.

Lovely names and I love the boyish shortenings too.
