Our daughter is nameless - should we just go for Noah?

We didn't know her sex, but if she had been a boy, she would have been Noah.

We like Madeleine/Maddie, but disagree on pronunciation. We had almost decided on Ivy, but we don't like the way it looks Sad

Any ideas? She's really cute Grin

Norah? Or I think Noa is a girls name.

GlacindaTheTroll · 19/11/2016 13:29

isn't it usually spelled Noa for a girl?

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 19/11/2016 13:29

Norah/Nora?

liquidrevolution · 19/11/2016 13:29

Nola?

Many congrats Grin

YouWereAlwaysPerfect · 19/11/2016 13:29

I wouldn't go for Noah because that is a boys name.

Which other girls names do you like?

Pyrrha · 19/11/2016 13:30

Mia,Leah, Cora have similar sounds to Noah. Hmm, if you like Madeleine, maybe Adeline, Coralie, something like that?

ScarletMoonlight · 19/11/2016 13:31

We did look at Noa, but does it look incomplete?

Nuala?

Pancakeflipper · 19/11/2016 13:32

Noa ?

I know a young girl called that and she really owns that name! She's totally lovely.

KlingybunFistelvase · 19/11/2016 13:33

I'd go for Noa or maybe something similar sounding. How about Nora, Nuala (noola) or Naomi?

PointlessUsername · 19/11/2016 13:33

Dd has a Noah in her class and it is spelt as that.

ScarletMoonlight · 19/11/2016 13:36

We're not sure about the other N names... Thank you though Smile

Leah is nice, but if we had a boy, could we have Leah and Noah?

Noa was the name of a lovely perfume many years ago... go for it! I think it's lovely for a little girl.
And congrats Smile

KlingybunFistelvase · 19/11/2016 13:41

Leah and Noah are lovely together! Yes, hang on to Noah for a boy if that she your preference. Leah is lovely too.

GlacindaTheTroll · 19/11/2016 13:41

OK, if you hope to have more DC, then best to have something that goes with Noah (if you have a DS) or Noa (if your last DC is another DD in a string of girls).

How about other OT names, such as Esther, Ruth, Naomi, Jemima, Rachel?

onedayimightforget · 19/11/2016 13:42

How about Leona?

KoalaDownUnder · 19/11/2016 13:43

Noah is odd for a girl.

I love Nola.

margaritasbythesea · 19/11/2016 13:43

Noemi?

Garthmarenghi · 19/11/2016 13:43

Nina?

Zaya71 · 19/11/2016 13:51

I have a friend named Naomi, but she goes by Noa. It is lovely for a girl.

Myu5ername · 19/11/2016 14:04

We nearly called our Wee one Noa, it's a gorgeous name and legitimate female name. It doesn't look incomplete.
Noah - the male equivalent should actually be pronounced with a 'ch' sound at the end that's why people can't get their head round Noa being a girls name.

raviolidreaming · 19/11/2016 14:08

Noa Smile

Mouthfulofquiz · 19/11/2016 14:12

I think I love the suggestion of Esther which someone suggested upthread. Noah and Esther is a lovely sibling set! (If you ever have a boy.)

XianLiax · 19/11/2016 14:13

Noé is the girls version I've seen (French kid. Also very cute!)

MiniAlphaBravo · 19/11/2016 14:15

How about iris instead of ivy? One of my favourite names. Or Ada. Or Naomi is lovely and similar to Noah. As there will be lots of little Noah's around I personally think it would be a bit odd to have a girl Noah as well but up to you!!
