I think we have decided on Mollie, but would like to get opinions first!

Dislike, sorry.

PoldarksBreeches · 06/11/2016 20:37

Dislike. Molly is better but still ick.

Giratina · 06/11/2016 20:37

It's a nice name but I'd spell it Molly otherwise she will spend her life correcting people.

crje · 06/11/2016 20:37

Molly is better.

Soubriquet · 06/11/2016 20:38

I have a Molly

Obviously I love it

Sophronia · 06/11/2016 20:38

I prefer Molly

Oranges4you · 06/11/2016 20:38

Oh, all the Mollies I've met have been Mollie...

I prefer molly although I think it is way to cutsie. In spite of my own name rhyming with it!

RiverTam · 06/11/2016 20:40

Very old fashioned. Popular round here, there were 3 (all spelt Molly) in DD's nursery class.

Chinlo · 06/11/2016 20:40

I really like Molly! But not so much Mollie.

Lovely

sarcasmMode · 06/11/2016 20:44

DD1 is Hollie and I much prefer the -ie spelling for female names in general (a few exceptions obviously). They are both legitimate spellings. I don't think they are cutesy (whatever that means). I don't know many young ones though (all 20+).

If you copy this into your browser:

www.ons.gov.uk/visualisations/dvc363/babyindex.html#1,Molly,Mollie

You can see the popularity of Mollie/Molly over the last 100 years. They both entered the top 100 around the same time but Molly with a Y has always been the more popular version.

Ankleswingers · 06/11/2016 20:45

Love Mollie. Smile

DianaMitford · 06/11/2016 20:47

I have a Molly and she is almost 15. She has started spelling her name Mollie Angry

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/11/2016 21:17

I like Molly.

DramaAlpaca · 06/11/2016 21:19

Too cutesy for me, sorry.

SpeckledyBanana · 06/11/2016 21:21

The only Molly I know is a labrador. It will forever be a dog's name for me, unfortunately.

Astro55 · 06/11/2016 21:26

Goes with all the other Tilly Milly Billy Dolly Maddie Holly - very similar and very popular - dates
