I have always loved this name, it would be shortened to Minty. Thoughts?

When I was a kid I wanted a pony called Araminta, Minty for short.

Just saying....

SuperManStoleMyPants · 06/11/2016 21:16

RiverTam well she'll most likely be (if it's a she) a dark haired frizzball who will never get a London flat from mummy and daddy as we can barely afford to rent here as it is!

Ledehe Janet and Roy from the round robins? How does it remind you of them?

Yes Moondial! The book is by Helen Creswell.

Pipilangstrumpf · 06/11/2016 21:44

Araminta is beautiful

Valeriemalorie · 06/11/2016 21:53

Sounds posh. Makes me think of Moondial too!

PlymouthMaid1 · 06/11/2016 22:05

It sounds very 'jolly hockey sticks' and Mallory Towers like to me but maybe that is what you want.

allegretto · 12/11/2016 13:16

Moondial for me too! I loved that programme (and so wanted to look like the actress who played Araminta) so it's a yes from me.

KlingybunFistelvase · 12/11/2016 15:39

I like it.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 16:14

I like it :)

Gruffalosfriend · 12/11/2016 21:59

I really like Araminta - beautiful and classy.

NashvilleQueen · 12/11/2016 22:03

It is properly posh. More so than any female name I can call to mind. But if you like it, go for it.

CoolCarrie · 12/11/2016 22:08

There is a Ruth Rendell book (can't remember which one ) the main character in it has this name and it's very creepy (the book, not the name)
Lovely name go for it!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/11/2016 16:43

DD2 has a friend called Araminta. She goes by the name of "MInce."

Gruffalosfriend · 13/11/2016 17:59

Nashville, is there anything wrong or unfortunate about 'posh', whatever that means?

I just find Araminta beautiful!

user1470686892 · 13/11/2016 18:41

I don't think it has a nice flow, find it bit of a mouthful.

Tarttlet · 14/11/2016 15:55

gratefully - yep, Minty is definitely a pony's name! (I knew a pony called Minty so I can't see it as a nn for a person...)

livinglooney8 · 14/11/2016 21:22

It's a beautiful name. Not for everyone though but that's no bad thing! It's always on those "what would you call your daughter" daydream threads. I know one.

BratFarrarsPony · 14/11/2016 21:26

I knew a pony called Minty as well..Grin

VixenLupin · 14/11/2016 21:28

Yes, love it too because of the book/TV series.

Catcheronthesly · 15/11/2016 10:25

I know a dog called Araminta/Minty. I'm not keen for a dog or a person to be honest (loved Moondial though)

EssentialHummus · 15/11/2016 10:36

Minty sounds like a Sloane ranger boarding school gal with swishy blond hair, probably not the brightest spark. Works in a posh shop and lives in a central London flat paid for by Mummy and Daddy.

I get exactly the same imagine. It's in the Jolyon / Allegra category for me.

Goddaughter goes by Minta - her choice when she started school. Needs to go with simple middle names though

TheWrathFromHighAtopTheThing · 15/11/2016 12:40

To me it's very 'I work part time for Daddy's PR firm in between trips to St Barts with Ptolemy.'
