Winston, basil or hank?

The title says it all. Ds2 is 4 days old and we don't have a name. I'm too tired to make decisions anymore! Dh's suggestions are,

Winston
Basil
Hank

Or are they all terrible?

I like Hank because of Hank Zipzer. But his full name is Henry and Hank is nn.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/11/2016 10:31

..... and which names to you like OP ?
Winston is nice.
I don't like Basil, only for a pet, hate Baz.
Hank = yuk. Sorry.

HarrietVane99 · 02/11/2016 10:37

Yes, I was going to say make it Henry and use Hank as a nn if it seems to suit him. Then there's always the option to use Hal or Harry or the full name.

SpidersFromMars · 02/11/2016 10:47

Henry / Hank is nice
How about

Ronnie
Frank (or even Francis)
Michael (Mickey)

I know dogs with all of those names, sorry op

LeonardaCohen · 02/11/2016 12:31

Great suggestions all. I really like Stanley and also Hugh so will put them past DH.

We like old names and also Scottish ones.

V grateful for everyone honesty, MN's the best! Also DH has history for trying to sneak crazy names past me. Last suggestion was Ivor, which I vetoed!

OP posts:
gunting · 02/11/2016 12:36

I like Stanley and Ivor! Not a fan of the original names.

Also a fan of Hugh, DS is Joel Hugh.

Crispbutty · 02/11/2016 12:38

Douglas
William
Hamish

ToujeoQueen · 02/11/2016 12:38

Joel is lovely.

Crispbutty · 02/11/2016 12:39

Ivor would lead to far too much piss taking as he gets older. So would all the original ones too.

Meeep · 02/11/2016 12:39

I really like Winston.

toffeeboffin · 02/11/2016 12:40

Basil Brush.
Tom Hanks.

Winston it is!

gunting · 02/11/2016 12:57

Toujeo thank you Grin

How about Bertrand (Russell) instead of Winston (Churchill)? Same generation and same stratospheric levels of poshness at time.

Or Frank (Sinatra) instead of Hank (Williams).

Or Ambrose instead of Basil?

BarInSpace · 02/11/2016 21:05

I like Basil, it's a likeable nature name due a comeback IMO. Basil Fawlty, Basil Brush and The Herb Garden aren't at the forefront of entertainment at the moment, so the younger generations won't really make those connections much!

BarInSpace · 02/11/2016 21:29

Vincent
Leo
Edwin
Sidney
Nathaniel
Rufus
Torin
Julian
Jasper

MouseLove · 02/11/2016 21:36

I like winston. A YouTube family I watch have a little one named winston and he's super cute.

What about Archer, Bradley, Benjamin, Colton, Daxton, Elijah, Fred, Huxton, Jack, Luton, Maxwell, Nathanael, Rudy, Sole, Trent

Boredenough2bhere · 03/11/2016 17:07

Winston. The other two are horrid. Sorry.

PaulaHollywood · 03/11/2016 18:48

What about Wilson? I've always really liked it
