Anyone named a child after a parent? Or were themselves named after one?

Would like to do this, but am interested to know if others have done it and then found it a confusing pain in the ass?!

We'd call baby a nickname of the original name.. think sammy instead of samuel

We know a couple of families and it usually works something like Tom/Thomas/Tommy, Charles/Charlie/Chuck, Sandy/Alex/Alec, Bob/Robert/Robbie, Jim/James/Jamie. We know more males than females because of the tradition of naming first born sons after fathers. But Lizzie/Beth/Betsy would work the same way.
