This name is decided, so I really do not want opinions on it.

I'd really just like to know which spelling you prefer??

Or Jem

eurochick · 29/10/2016 16:46

Why not go for swag bag if you fancy something burglar themed?

NotYoda · 29/10/2016 16:47

Genevieve is lovely, then you could have Ginny as nn, or Genny

Mishaps · 29/10/2016 16:48

Dictionary definition of jemmy: a short crowbar used by a burglar to force open a window or door. Hmm. Can you cal a child this?

sparechange · 29/10/2016 16:50

Jem is a Turkish boys name, although it's spelt çem ans pronounced Jem

crayfish · 29/10/2016 16:50

Jemima on the bc and Jemmie as a nn. I have an equivalent sort of name (not as 'made up' though) and am grateful for the 'proper' version on my bc because I can use that if I want to seem professional or formal.

NotYoda · 29/10/2016 17:10

sparechange

Yes, I know, although it's also used as a shortening of Jeremy.

I have heard it used for a girl

Clutching at straws as an alternative for Jemmie!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/10/2016 17:13

Jemmie

Oysterbabe · 29/10/2016 17:24

I think Swagbag is a beautiful name.

ManonLescaut · 29/10/2016 17:27

Jemma. Jemmie as nn.

BastardBernie · 29/10/2016 17:29

I think Jennifer is a beautiful, underrated name. Why don't you consider it and call her Jenny/Jen?
Jemmy.. sounds like I'm saying Jamie in a joke-y French chef accent.

Mozfan1 · 29/10/2016 17:32

I'm a Jemma, people call me Jem for short. Not sure about jemmy though

FuckThatToOneSide · 29/10/2016 17:46

Jemmie. It just looks more like a girl's name to me.

Fwiw, it's not my personal cup of tea. I'm a long name on BC with options for shortenings kind of person. But, I hadn't heard of a jemmy before. I always thought one 'jimmied' a lock rather than jemmied! Must have misheard it on a crime show Blush. So, that wouldn't actually put me off. Jimmy is a well established shortening of James anyway and I never thought "God I'd never call my DS James" because I thought Jimmy was what burglars did to locks! I even know a James who is known as Jimmy and never thought of the whole lock thing.

Nospringflower · 29/10/2016 17:51

I know you don't want opinions but ...

MotherDuckSaid · 29/10/2016 18:23

🙊

BendydickCuminsnatch · 29/10/2016 18:32

Agree with FuckThat re. Jimmying a lock and not worrying about the name James!

I think Jemmie.

DiegeticMuch · 29/10/2016 22:25

Jemmie is very pretty as a nickname for something.

00100001 · 29/10/2016 22:34

It is a terrible name, go for Jemima at least!

LockedOutOfMN · 29/10/2016 22:36
