What is the original spelling of Lynn?

I know there are a couple that are acceptable, but what's the original??

Always thought it to be Lynn or Lynne.
What goes Google suggest? Grin

We have a Lyn in our family but all the others I know are Lynne.

Google says Lynn... As it was once a unisex name. Lynne seems to be what people use normally... As mainly females have the name

I'm not sure if there is one "correct" spelling for the name now. In Gaelic it is linn, and being a general Celtic name there is also a Welsh form and possibly more in the other Celtic languages.

In its geographic form (it means waterfall or pool) it is usually spelt Lynn in Scottish placenames, e.g. the Lynn of Lorn, or Linn if it's in Gaelic.

I think Lyn and Lynne were possibly "yooneeq" spellings in their day but are pretty standard now.
