My list is getting longer, not shorter, for my new baby girl's name. Can you list your top 10? Giving 10 points to your favourite, and 1 to your least! I'll add them up and see which one scores the most! Here they are (in no particular order):

River
Willow
Ava
Edie
Esme
Bo
Bibi
Mia
Maeve
Delphine

Thanks for your time! If you can tell me why you like/dislike a certain name that's great too! Xx

Thanks for all your input again!

The results are in:

Willow 418 votes
Ava 405 votes
Esme 402 votes
Maeve 398 votes
Edie 391 votes
Delphine 370
Mia 369
Bo 159
Bibi 128

Also the names that scored 10/10 the most were:
Delphine 12 times
Edie 10 times
Maeve 9 times
Willow/Esme 7 times
Mia 6 times
Ava/River/Bo 1 time
Bibi 0 times

Think I'm going to disregard Bo, Bibi, River and also Maeve and Mia due to my first daughters name starting with a M.

So that leaves me with:
Willow
Ava
Esme
Edie
Delphine

Any new thoughts on just these names would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Delphine or Edith (shortened to Edie) get my vote. The others are ok, but Ava is my least favourite.

Willow - like this name, quite popular at the moment, a few celeb children.

Edie - I really like Edith, shortened to Edie. However, this name is becoming super popular in some areas so you might not be that unique (if that bothers you!)

Esme - I'm not a huge fan of this name. I don't think it's v pretty and sounds a bit middle aged (probably because I know several woman called Esme in their 60s)

Delphine - not a name I considered, but I do like it. Unusual and unlikely to ever become too popular.

Ava - a bit boring and common at the moment. No nickname potential.

Fashionmama99 · 17/10/2016 10:45

So... We might go for Esme or Edie as a first name, and either Willow or Delphine as a second... Does anyone have any preferences? Thanks X

For your revised list:

Willow - my first association is with the Buffy character, which isn't a bad one. I don't have strong feelings either way.
Ava - love it. One of my favourite names, but it's very popular at the moment.
Esme - I'm not that keen on it because of the Twilight association, but that won't be an issue ten years from now!
Edie - don't like it. The repeated ee sounds aren't to my taste and it could be mistaken for 'E.D.' Edith is better, but might not be your style of name?
Delphine - love this, too, and it's much more unusual than Ava, if that's something that matters to you.

So, in order of preference: Delphine, Ava, Willow, Esme, Edie.

Shockers · 17/10/2016 19:41

Esme Delphine.

If that was the name of a character in a book, I'd expect her to be interesting and artistic.

I know girls called all of your choices except for Delphine

If you're worried about a name being too popular, I'd avoid Ava, Esme and Edie as there seem to be quite a few of these around. I only know one Willow and a grown-up one.

You're called fashionmama - Maybe Biba instead of Bibi?

Spottyladybird · 21/10/2016 13:46

River 3
Willow 6
Ava 10
Edie 9
Esme 8
Bo 2
Bibi 1
Mia 5
Maeve 7
Delphine 4

steppemum · 21/10/2016 13:59

River - 3 (Dr Who fan?)
Willow - 5
Ava - 3 - over used
Edie - 4 - but better as nn
Esme - 5
Bo - 0 (or more likely -5)
Bibi - 0 (again -5)
Mia - 3 - over used
Maeve - 2 - don't like the sound of it
Delphine - 2

sorry, can't score then 1-10 as none deserve 10, and many deserve low numbers

BarInSpace · 21/10/2016 18:37

Edie Willow out of the last two you mentioned. I also like River, Ava and Mia. How about Jasmine?

LuluNTutu · 21/10/2016 18:41

River - 2
Willow - 5
Ava - 6
Edie - 3
Esme - 7
Bo - Noooooo! -10
Bibi - 1
Mia - 8
Maeve - 4
Delphine - 10

Quercus3 · 24/10/2016 12:23

Esme Delphine. Lovely.

GinevraPotter · 25/10/2016 10:12
  1. Edie
  1. Ava
  2. Mia
  3. Willow
  4. Esme
  5. Maeve
  6. Delphine
  7. River
  8. Bibi
  9. Bo

River seems masculine to me and I don't like it for a girl. Bibi is cutesy and would be okay as a nickname, but it's awful for an actual name. My tablet keeps trying to change Bo to no and go, and that explains my feelings on the name pretty nicely.

I like all the others, especially Edie and Ava.
