Evangeline or Josephine?

We have a single syllable sirname which suits 3 syllable first names.

These are 2 front runners for me.

But I'm totally stumped on boys names.

If I like these for a girl, can you recommend any I might like for a boy?

(We already have a DD Madeleine)

First name that came to mind was Sebastian

Josephine is the prettier of the 2, but with Madeleine I'd use Evangeline.

I much prefer Josephine, in fact I really don't like Evangeline at all.

I have a one syllable surname, dd and me have three syllable names, ds and dh have two. I think both work.

Longer boys names - Timothy, William, Benedict, Jonathon, Nicolas?

Swirlysunshine · 02/10/2016 01:28

They are more likely to be using the abbreviated forms at school etc and Evie is far cuter than Jo.

I like Evangeline best.

Joseph for boy, Josephine for girl.

I prefer Evangeline but if you have a Madeline already I think Evangeline is too similar.

KoalaDownUnder · 02/10/2016 04:28

Evangeline. I don't like Josephine much.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/10/2016 04:29

Funny that people think Josephine is pretty. To me it's a 'damn, I wish we'd had a son' name. Like the Lawson sisters, Nigella, Thomasina, and Horatia. They definitely wanted a Nigel, Thomas and Horatio.

WanderingTrolley1 · 02/10/2016 04:42

Josephine. Works better with Madeleine.

ChickenSalad · 02/10/2016 04:49

Both are lovely. Josie is also short for Josephine- I like names that give you the choice of at least one or two abbreviations.

To me it's a 'damn, I wish we'd had a son' name

Absolute nonsense.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/10/2016 05:02

Key words being 'to me', in other words IN MY OPINION

HTH.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/10/2016 05:03

So yes, TO ME it's a 'damn, I wish we'd had a son' name

Posy is another diminutive for Josephine.

enchantmentandlove · 02/10/2016 05:15

Both are pretty, but I prefer Evangeline.

For boys:

Gabriel
Theodore
Zachary

katemess12 · 02/10/2016 05:18

Josephine.

But hate "Posy". Fortunately, I doubt people would think to call her that. Josie seems the most obvious nickname.

Raines100 · 02/10/2016 07:13

Evangeline is much prettier.
