Which do you prefer? Middle name i think William.

Plus are there any good nn's for Arthur apart from Art/Artie? Or just stick with Arthur?

Arthur

Arthur Joseph would be a great name, much better than Arthur William.

CakeRattleandRoll · 01/10/2016 07:11

Really like both and like nns Artie and Joe. Joseph probably just edges it.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/10/2016 07:27

Joseph William.

Hassled · 01/10/2016 07:28

Arthur. Lovely name. I don't dislike Joseph but there are an awful lot of Joes around.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/10/2016 07:30

Joseph

buckyou · 01/10/2016 08:55

Thanks all. Interesting what some of you have said about Arthur being a bit faddy and Joseph being more timeless. I want timeless (DD Elizabeth).

I also prefer William but my nephew and my BIL are both Williams so I can't really have that.

i really like Joseph William :)

primarynoodle · 01/10/2016 10:23

I love Arthur but it was vetoed because we have an Arthur the rabbit - moot point anyway because "Arthur" came out a girl!

Sophronia · 01/10/2016 12:04

Love both, but Joseph William

Jemimapuddleduk · 01/10/2016 19:52

Arthur. Love love love it and have a beautiful little one asleep upstairs

ReadTheWholeFred · 02/10/2016 09:17

I would say both are timeless. One is biblical the other is Royal and both are international.

I love them both. Arthur probably takes the edge for me as its just a bit more interesting. I wouldn't shortened it although I know and Arthur with nn Thor, as in Ar"thor".

MrsGsnow18 · 02/10/2016 10:20

Joseph.
Arthur becoming very popular.

ReadTheWholeFred · 02/10/2016 10:30

Joseph was 21st most popular names last year. Arthur was 37th. So I wouldn't worry too much that Arthur is over popular compared to Joseph.

catsofa · 02/10/2016 19:48

I love both, would have liked Joseph for my son but DP hates biblical. I adore Joe and would almost have another one to call him that but i haven't forgotten the whole giving birth bit and am not completely insane

Also love both. Joseph will probably get Joe when he's older so on that basis Arthur but like them equally.

sidonie1 · 02/10/2016 21:15

My twins are Arthur and Joseph! Excellent taste 😊 *no help at all

ScarletSienna · 02/10/2016 21:35

I far prefer Joseph. I'm not at all keen on Arthur and it is a fairly popular name here at the moment. There never seem to be loads of Josephs, yet it is classic and ageless

ReturnoftheWhack · 02/10/2016 21:51

DS is Joseph, born in 2011, I have never come across another Joseph in all that time, maybe it's regional. We went on a day out not long ago in a different part of the country and heard three Joseph's in one day, DS was agog! He goes by Joseph mainly, Joe, JoJo, Doe-Doe (DD) Bo-Bo, Bilbo, Bilbo-Baggins....nicknames in my experience come from places you didn't even think of! My daughter was called her name to be called the obvious nickname but it never caught on and we call her something else entirely now. Weird.

Anyway, I digress, both are lovely names!

buckyou · 03/10/2016 16:17

Thanks everyone. Sounds like people don't generally find either too offensive... which is good!

Think maybe we will leave it open and see how we feel when he's born.

I have a Joseph Luke. He was Joe-joe when he was little, Joe now he's 8, and his friends call him Joey ☺ I now need a name for his little brother!!!

sj257 · 03/10/2016 22:40

I also call my Joe 'pheen'

Comes from messing around calling him josephine 😂😂 he calls me mummy pheen so it's all good 😂

buttercup54321 · 03/10/2016 22:44

I prefer William as a first name, but if not.then Joseph William.

beela · 03/10/2016 22:45

Ohhh, ds middle name is Joseph, and we had Arthur and William on the list for dc2 (who turned out to be a girl - middle name Elizabeth).

No help, sorry, but you do have excellent taste op Grin
