What is your first impression? Other than Vauxhall? What kind of parent would use the name do you think?

What about Nola?

CotedePablo · 13/09/2016 09:29

Supernova was the first thought here too, and immediate memories of Oasis singing Champagne Supernova on Glasgow Green as dusk fell on a beautiful summer's evening in about 2000. 'Twas magical.
Apart from that, I like it, and I don't usually go for 'out there' names.
If you like it, use it.

leccybill · 13/09/2016 09:34

I know a Novella

toastymarshmallow · 13/09/2016 09:38

There is a youtube vlogger family that I watch and their 5 year old is called Nakova. Shortened to Kova. I love that and its what I thought of when I read Nova.

isitseptemberyet · 13/09/2016 10:18

Not a fan sorry, bit try hard

squoosh · 13/09/2016 10:57

It reminds me of a 90s singer called Heather Nova who I used to love but had forgotten all about until now.

Thanks OP!

Shemozzle · 13/09/2016 10:59

Phew, no one said the 'c' word which was the only thing I was worried about. None of the other things are enough to put me off. I thought the teen mom baby was Novaleigh rather than just Nova? Dp likes it but prefers the other name we have shortlisted, so it could just be a back up but it goes really well as a middle name if we go for the other one.

isitseptemberyet · 13/09/2016 12:25

Honestly , I almost wrote the c word.. But have been told off for using it in another post so wrote 'try hard' instead , sorry !!

allthecarbs · 13/09/2016 12:29

I think of space and that makes me like it.
I would never use it though as so many people seem to hate it and I wouldn't want to put that on my child.

allthecarbs · 13/09/2016 12:30

What's the c word?

OhFuds · 13/09/2016 13:40

What's the C word? I've Googled but I'm still clueless.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 13/09/2016 14:23

Never heard of the car, made me think of Teen Mom but I knew of it before then and like it.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 13/09/2016 14:23

I think the C word = chav

Oh dear, yes c word is (whispers) chavvy. Often names from classics or mythology etc I like are described as try hard so thought that was ok.

MrsGsnow18 · 13/09/2016 20:24

I think of Nova Scotia Hmm I guess I'm weird!
I would never have thought of car.

It's a cool name though!

BennyTheBall · 13/09/2016 20:29

My mum had a red Vauxhall Nova back in the day.

It's a terrible name.

Itsnottheendoftheworld · 13/09/2016 20:34

Isn't it out of planet of the apes? I like it it's different. Not too weird. I don't know any chavs with kids called nova.

MimiSunshine · 14/09/2016 04:58

We liked Nova for our baby especially if you go with the supernova meaning of the name - It may shine with the brightness of 10 billion suns!

But my BF first car was a nova and we knew his friends would comment on that and yes teen mom kind of ruined it for me (ever so slightly going off Catelynn and Tyler and their seeming bratty approach to certain things)

CatyB · 14/09/2016 07:19

My brother plays a video game - StarCraft 2 - in which there is a Nova character, who is like a science fiction assassin of sorts. Joke associations aside, I think the name itself is nice. The reason I like it so much is because it stands out from all the others.
