Is Rhea too similar to Aria?

DD1 is called Aria. She's 3 and we love her name. When we were thinking of a name a lot of the girls names we liked were short and ended in an a (Eva & Cara were serious contenders)

Now DD2 is due (in December) and we're thinking of names again. A lot of names I like DH doesn't (Willow, Rowen). A few names he likes I'm not keen on (Emma, Emily).

I have a lost on my phone and last night I was putting Thea on it when my phone auto-corrected it to Rhea and we both liked it.

But is it too similar? Is the spelling correct as I'd pronounce it Ray-a, not ree-a.

Just makes me think of the bird, can't help but picture a big ol Rhea every time I read the word.

I did know a Ria though, which doesn't make me think of a bird. But obviously that's way too close to Aria.

Maybe Rhoda? older name, also Greek for rose but less common than Rose and would go nicely with Aria.

I know a Rhea (pronounced Ray-a) I think it's a lovely name and not too similar. She's one of the loveliest people I know as well Smile

I know a Rhea, pronounced Rhee-a. Lovely name for a girl.

I'd forgotten about this thread. Nothing sticking yet - I am gone off Rhea though!

Yes, it's too similar imo. Hope you find a better alternative :)

Leah?

Maggie2828 · 10/09/2016 07:59

Too similar! Clara?

Peopleplease · 10/09/2016 23:21

Leah is in serious contention at the moment.

I love Leah.

Such an underused name. I've only ever known one, and she spelt it Lia. It surprises me it's not more popular.

Mouthfulofquiz · 11/09/2016 16:50

Is Leah and Aria too similar sounding though? I do love Leah but it will sound like Lia and Ria.

StylishDuck · 12/09/2016 06:44

Grin I may be biased because my DD is Leah but I absolutely love it. I don't think it's too similar to Aria but then maybe it depends on your accent? (Scottish here).

I'd pronounce it Ree-ya on first glance and I think Ree-ya and Aria actually go pretty well as a set. Although it would be Aria and Rhea

Peopleplease · 12/09/2016 19:14

stylish Irish here so I think it would be ok. We've been saying it out loud and it's sounding good.

Go for it op. I'm not mad on the names themselves but I think they sound beautiful together. (I'm Irish too) if you like it then it will work.
