Hi,

I'm having a baby boy in a couple of weeks and we are completely stuck regarding names. We are Welsh so are open to both English and Welsh names.

We already have a Sadie which we loved because it's not overly popular here but it's not too out there! It also really suits her.

Some of our ideas include-
Gruff
Oakley
Austin
Asher

But we aren't excited about any of them! And he'll be here in a couple of weeks! Thanks

Rhodri is fabulous, I also like Evan and Gethin. I think Gruff is awful and Oakley isn't really a name is it?

Austin is nice and I only know one do from your list I would go with that, it goes nicely with Sadie too.

Talliesin. Pleeease. Tal for short.

Asher is lovely

Don't really like Gruff but Griff/ Griffin is nice.

Really dislike Austin, but not keen on surnames as first names generally.

Theo is ok, not v exciting. I also think Jude goes well with Sadie.

If you like Asher, what about Amos (my face vetoed name!) or Ezra?

"If it's not listed on the website that lists basically every name in existence, I'd argue that it's not exactly a "well-known" name."

I've met three Gruffs and I've never even lived in Wales so yes it's pretty well-known! I don't think failing to find a name on a website means you should confidently assume that name doesn't exist

I'm not even Welsh and I've come across the name many times.

Love Gruff/Griff. How about Griffin for a longer version which might be easier for non-Welsh people to handle?

I like Jude and Theo too. How about Travis, Huxley, Ioan, Jago, Torin, Rafe, Ellis, Stanley?

Thanks for all your replies. Sorry I haven't replied sooner, I've been in hospital.

I have taken all your suggestions on board and I'm starting to panic a bit now because I'm being induced in just over a week!

I'm a bit sad at being told some of the names on my list are 'ridiculously awful' though Sad. Probably due to my hormones though! Thanks all
