OH and I really can't decide on a girls name! Have loads if its a boy, but not sure on a girl! Can I have thoughts/opinions on:
Alba
April
Cara
Penny
Stella
Violet

Or any other suggestions on names that are similar to that! Thanks!!

Cara is my favourite.

PurpleDaisies · 26/08/2016 22:41

Cara is the only one I like.

Seekingmiracles · 26/08/2016 22:44

I quite like them all apart from April. Alba is my favourite.

Allalonenow · 26/08/2016 22:49

Alba is my favourite.

Cara is my least favourite.

I would only use April for a child born in April.

Penny is OK for a nn for Penelope, Stella is OK but I prefer Estelle.

How about Aphra, which has a similar feel to Alba?

Puremince · 26/08/2016 23:03

I think April only works if there is a reason for it, such as an April birthday, or named after a granny. I like the rest.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 26/08/2016 23:09

I'm with Pure on April. It has to have a meaning.
Although it is a gorgeous name.
Alba. Not keen sorry
Cara. Is gorgeous.
Penny. Horrible
Stella Artois
Violet. I really do not get the hype over this name. It's one of the most horrible names out there. Very harsh and very overused.

cheapandcheerful · 26/08/2016 23:15

I love Alba and April.

marmitecrumpets · 26/08/2016 23:16

Stella

AnnaMarlowe · 26/08/2016 23:17

Alba is fab.

K8tyjones42 · 26/08/2016 23:19

I like Alba
My DD is called Mara unusual but not freaky!

0pti0na1 · 26/08/2016 23:19

I like all of them!

Personally I think April is fine for a baby born any time of year, same with Holly, May or June etc.

Alba could get mis-heard as Alma, possibly?

Alba Violet
April Stella
April Cara
Violet Stella
Violet Cara

QueenLizIII · 27/08/2016 01:20

I like Cara.

My school friend had a gran named Violet and he jokingly called her Violent.

It sounds almost the same though and it is not a nice sounding name for a little girl. Sounds too much like violent.

Caldini22 · 27/08/2016 01:49

I love Stella. Had this on my girls name list but got vetoed.

FayaMAMA · 27/08/2016 02:44

Alba - the name I always thought I would name a daughter if I had one. Perfectly beautiful.

Violet - the name I actually gave my daughter. I also believe it is perfectly beautiful.

April - very simple and lovely, but not anything to write home about in my opinion.

Cara - stunning. There are a lot of Cara's where I live, so I personally wouldn't use it, but it has a very quaint feel to it.

Penny - I don't love it on its own. But I really do adore it as a nn for Penelope (and I LOVE the name Penelope). So cute, though.

Stella - my DDs have a friend named Stella and its the 'cutest' name I've ever come across, yet somehow you can imagine it working for them at all ages.

TheDowagerCuntess · 27/08/2016 02:48

Cara is lovely.

I'm another one who doesn't get Violet. Must be a marmite name.

GoldPlatedBacon · 27/08/2016 09:27

Alba
Violet
Stella

MrsGsnow18 · 27/08/2016 09:44

Love Alba!!

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 27/08/2016 10:42

April and Violet are the only ones I like (sorry). They are both lovely though Smile!

I don't like the others for quite personal reasons which probably aren't relevant to you though Grin;

Alba reminds me of a chip shop in Edinburgh.

There was a mum on here a while ago utterly raging that people immediately thought of lager when she told them her daughter was named Stella. She was really angry and upset - it's put me right off the name, which I actually quite liked before.

Cara reminds me of a not all that pleasant girl I know through a friend.

Penny (to me) is a nn. Probably for Penelope (which I really dislike as I find the double p sound a bit 'spitty').

Holly1987 · 27/08/2016 10:58

I love the name Violet Smile I know some people will find it a bit dated though.

My second favourite from you lost is Cara

RepentAtLeisure · 27/08/2016 13:16

Violet and Stella are still v v v popular. Alba makes me think of Jessica Alba, it sounds too surnamey.

I like the suggestion of Estelle actually! You could call her Estelle and use Stella as a nickname. That way if there are 2 or 3 Stella's already in her school class, she won't have to be Stella Capital Letter of Surname.

booellesmum · 27/08/2016 13:23

DD has a friend called Ciara - pronounced key-a-ra.

Joinourclub · 27/08/2016 14:43

I like Cara best.

BettyOBarley · 27/08/2016 14:46

I like Cara (or Ciara / Clara?) and Stella (like the idea of Estelle)

Alba doesn't sound like a girls name to me.

Loyly · 27/08/2016 14:49

Alba - To me, it's a place name and I don't like them as first names.
April - Old-fashioned
Cara - Don't like it
Penny - Love
Stella - Love
Violet - Love

Quercus3 · 27/08/2016 19:12

Great list.

My least favourite is probably Violet by a tiny margin. Can't picky a favourite they are all too lovely!
