Alternative to Annabel?

DH and I both love the name but BIL and SIL already have a niece called Annabel. If we can't find anything we like as much we'll still use it as it's not a close relative to us, but if there's an alternative that'd be better! Any suggestions of names with a similar feel?

Ooh no you're right, they had a thing!

Amabel? It's olde English I think.

I know an Annalisa which gets rid of the spelling issue

Glitterspy · 26/08/2016 18:49

Anna (similar but so classic)

Then similarly "posh but not too posh" names:
Aurelie
Ariadne
Elspeth
Evangelise
Eveline or Evelina
Delarivier
Nancy
Posy
Tabitha
Mathilda
Vivienne

Wait is it your niece OP? Or just they have a niece on otherside of the family?

If it's the latter then I'd still consider the name. Someone having 2 unrelated nieces with the same name is very different to cousins with the same name.

I love Annie or Anna as an alternative though.

Ugh I wanted a name for DD and my DH refused to entertain it because his sister's, husband's sister have a DD with the same name. Is that the same sort of thing? If so, just use it. I am still a bit miffed we didn't use the name. We rarely see them and I don't really care if DH's sister would have had two nieces of the same name. She would quickly get used to it. I actually know cousins who have the same name and even that wasn't a problem after everyone got used to it.

How about Audra or Arianna? I really like Annalise though

I went to school with an Arabelle. She's the only one I've ever come across.
